That diablo immortal you mention, what a huge letdown, couldn't even grind it out, in a grinding game!? everything was gated, time locked, or paywalled. Like being locked in an escape room, and the only way out is to dual-wield credit cards.
This chronicle game though, I'm really liking it. It's got a similar feel to sky arena, obviously - but the overall design regards to how they 'skinner box' you. They have a much more pleasant formula than most other gacha games.
edit - forgot the games best point for myself, it's also the only steam game ever that my wife also enjoys and we can play together. That's a 10/10 score right there just for that.
For what it's worth, I don't think it's a bad game or that Summoners War as a whole is too evil. I have played all three games without spending a thin dime and felt they were fun, and bought some of their merchandise (mostly the comics) without feeling ripped off. But first impressions count for a lot and the PC gamer market is completely understandable for not giving this game a chance
FInd that funny because the moment an EA title comes out they eat it like its something never seen before... I feel most games nowadays are just the same stuff without much new. So I find it funny when people just bash the ports but easily eat up the #%#@ of other titles while it too isn't the best quality but still defend it tooth and nail.
That said, this is a substandard bastardized PC port. Console games lazily ported to PC resulted in substandard graphics, performance, poor M&K (Mouse and Keyboard) support, and other issues that still persist in PC gaming today. Then everything changed when mobile gaming attacked.
We have sycophantic corporate bootlicking morons like the dork behind MMOByte claiming that 'mobile gacha games are the future' and other such nonsense. There are PC games that release without full 100% keybinding support and not only does that not get an outrage response from most players but they don't even seem to care anymore. Just think on that for a moment; a PC game released in 2022 where you can't freely rebind every key. I miss John Bain (TotalBiscuit) because I feel his loss seems to have left a power vacuum that mobile games seem to have swooped in and taken over. They do whatever lazy garbage port while sycophants like the OP in this very thread question why people 'hate' this game.
If we truly hated this game with no redeeming qualities we'd hard-drop and ignore it. We'd shun it so hard it would get shunned into the same pile of games that game out with 'blockchain' and 'NFT' in their title. They'd get shunned off the face of the PC gaming market and never return. That's HATE if you want it. This isn't hate. This is 'why is this mobile game on PC without saying it is a mobile game on PC'.
There's a few others that even used a janky buggy exploitable piece of spyware/malware as a windows driver that the devs (falsely) claim is for 'anti-cheat' in a completely single-player-exclusive game (Another Eden, Tower of Fantasy, etc) but ok. If the game runs without 'anti cheat' enabled then the driver is not an anti-cheat driver but it is malware/spyware. Real actual verified anti-cheat won't allow the game to run unless it is running.
I wrote this post in 2018[i.postimg.cc]. Things have only gotten worse. Nevermind FOV slider in a first or third person game when something as basic as key rebinding is seemingly off the table.
Because the "best" mobile-to-PC port is still a mobile port. It still looks like trash. You can say you like the art style, and that's fine. But graphically speaking this just doesn't compare to real PC games....the P2W aspect was kind of a turn off too, stemming from the fact that it's a mobile game and they're banking on someone with a gambling addiction spending $5000 to buy a shiny Pukeatchu and honestly....
I agree with most of this take. I mean, TotalBiscut was a bit of a git and would throw his subscriber-base around or mock people for disagreeing with him, so I never was a huge fan of him or his reviews and I don't think he was some all-important bulwark against crappy developers. They've been around before him, and they will be here now that he's gone.
But that aside, I think that the idea of "ports" and being ok with having non-working or lesser versions is why the PC playerbases are treated like sloppy seconds when it comes to new game announcements, and have been for years.
Now it's like:
"If a game doesn't crash at least 75% of the time you try to run it with a computer well within the specifications of the listed requirements, is it even a videogame launch in the year of our Lord, 2022?"
And with low quality posts like this becoming the norm for free to play gaming, what could have been such a beautiful market for entertainment has turned into having to sell your ass on baker street every night just to afford your waifu draws and still make rent.
I always use a xbox 360 controller from ebay. If you go to ebay and type in
Wired Game Controller Gamepad for Microsoft XBOX 360 & PC WIN 7 8 10
Look for the wired one and i bought another one for under 20 dollars, works well with all my games.
