Dropped clock hand

During the clock puzzle, I found the grandfather clock hand stuck into the bulletin board. I accidentally clicked and dropped the clock hand on the floor, where it instantly disappeared. It is not anywhere; it may be stuck inside some furniture or something. Do I have to just restart the game, now?

If you exit to the title and then reload your game, it should be stuck to the bulletin board again. Same thing happened to me. I dropped the minute hand because I wanted to read the newspaper clipping and then couldn't find it on the ground!
