So what’s the plot here?
Sam Colten produces a show about his adopted daughter Rebecca. Did he adopt Rebecca because she had some kind of powers before and he saw it as an opportunity? Is he an innocent dad? Clearly he was later silenced by hamlen the company that has the rights to Amanda the cartoon. We also have that scene where to show company is having Amanda read of names of demons. Is this because they summoned demons? I get the feeling that Amanda have special abilities in some way and that might be why she was chosen in the first place. Maybe by her adopted dad and/or the tv company when they found out what she could do. We also have the paper references to different planets as well an article about a Celtic object that went missing right at an important time. Who was aunt Kate and why was a librarian so important. Also who are we and why would aunt Kate send us here? Any ideas on who the masked man is?

My guess is that there is no paranormal stuff going on whatsoever.

Instead, Hameln runs a side business focused on human experimentation and uses the spooky paranormal stuff as a cover so nobody suspects what's actually going on.

The "demon" that we encounter is actually a mutant cloned from Rebecca's DNA that is controlled by Hameln.

My guess as to why they targeted Rebecca is because she unknowingly possessed psychic powers and they have her hooked up to some machine and use the machine to generate the Amanda the Adventurer show in real time, with an additional feature to allow her to access prior recordings of the show and manipulate them remotely.

The whole point of the show is to manipulate the minds of its viewers and trick them into running away so Hameln, or a company affiliated with it, can grab them and bring them in to use them as lab experiments

Oh, and Wooly is an A.I. program designed to keep Rebecca company and to prevent her from questioning her role in the show. The poor thing has become self-aware and is torn between its programming and its sense of right and wrong.

All of the objects with eyes on them are mere extensions of the Wooly A.I. and are run simultaneously.

I actually brought something like this to a thread about the "sixth" tape and I quote.

"I actually think it displays how Wooly is not super important to the story of the game over-all.

One thing I noticed in the lore tapes especially the interviews or mentioning of Sam is Wooly is not mentioned once anywhere. I think Sam's creation of Amanda did not have Wooly at all and Wooly was an addition made by Hamlin.

Cause how would Wooly even work in live-action (original Amanda) with a super small budget?

So without Amanda, Wooly literally has nothing to do... but sit there... he's a reactive character.

Could be wrong but that was one of my take aways."

The most important lore seems to be in the tapes. Sam seemed genuinely concerned in the purple tape which makes me think he wasn't involved. We know Kate was a big supporter of the show and at some point became a paranormal researcher who was researching Amanda in connection to a missing child's case. We also know Sam went missing at some point. I think the real enemy is the company who was doing something sinister. After Sam went missing they seemed to have complete control of Rebecca and the show which apparently said strange things that made parents concerned such as "mommies and daddies aren't always right". Then kids started disappearing and the show seemed to be able to see and hear through the TV. Based on what Amanda (Rebecca) says she seems to be physically out there somewhere scared and alone but her mind or soul or whatever seems trapped in the world of the cartoon. I think Hamlen is using Rebecca and the show to get to kids for some horrible purpose and they got rid of Sam because he was in the way. If you watch Game Theory MatPat points out a bunch of references and comparisons to the Pied Piper story where a town's children are hypnotized into walking into a lake because the town refused to pay a guy for getting rid of all the rats in the town of Hamelin.

hi
Teirae May 22, 2023 @ 8:34pm
My theory, Hamlen bought the rights to the show, they wanted to "turn Amanda into a cartoon" and that is exactly what they did. We saw them take Rebecca in one of the lore videos, and I think they actually turned her into a cartoon. Maybe the demon thing is what was left of her after they did it
