The thing is, that these sort of CD-key related exploits aren't news to VALVe. Their modus operandi is, to not do anything, until it becomes a problem, even if it's known to potentially cause problems.
If something about Steam gets exploited en masse, only then will they lift a finger, e.g. when Steam Driect launched and asset-flippers realized, they can just not make proper videogames and instead just sell vehicles for trading cards and achievement spamming.
VALVe could've fixed their key-generation. Capcom could've removed the game's DRM, which is the real problem here. No, instead they've just de-listed this game, because it's easy and doesn't cost anything.
You know who else can't access this game anymore? Everyone, who owns a legit copy and has reached the activation limit of SecuROM, one of the more draconic forms of DRM out there. DRM is the real enemy of game preservation here, not some YouTuber.
gamer moment
In my eyes, he never should have shared any of this information, it ruins the game(s) and for not just the owners/developers/companies, anyone who may wish to want the game(s) in the future
Spiff is not wrong though, lots of people exploit the free games trades even in pirated game sites that exist, it is a known thing, just I wouldn't recommend it, you don't have access to every sort of patch via the support you get like on Steam
You do realise I never said anything in support of draconian DRM like Securom or claimed Capcom handeled this situation well, right?
Those are all very much major issues everyone can agree but Spif undeniably had a part in contributions by encouraging escalation and telling his fans to all go and break the system.
Plus, it's not just this situation I'm talking about, it's his whole current format of content where he does this with everything, It's IRL exploit after exploit with him, it was funny when it was inconsequential goofs in a video game but he's using the same stuff in places where actual money is involved, like encouraging users to buy up all of the market of random community items and then scalp them at unreasonable prices.
He actively encourages poor behaviour and tells his audience to go cause havoc and make it everyone else's problem.
Flock is just a recent example and I felt like putting out my thoughts while they were fresh.
Wow, you've obviously got some problems, I don't exactly care for SJWs myself but anyone who projects them and rants about them unprovoked is clearly just on the opposite side of the extremist problem, nowhere whatsoever did I say anything remotely like "dA SjWz".
And Spif undeniably causes issues for other people, making entertainment out of it isn't an excuse, it's the same as those crappy prank channels in a way,
Also I don't even consider myself a furry, robots are my main deal, I just like cute guys and gals in general including anthros, but obviously if the idea of someone liking cartoon animals is living in your head to the point you feel you need to attack someone and use it as justification then you've obviously got issues.
My brother in christ, you wrote a novel about a guy exposing relatively harmless exploits. This is his content, his brand, his lively hood.
The fact that he makes these videos actually contributes towards getting them fixed.
There is a whole world of exploits out there way, waaay worse than getting free Flock and old Ubisoft game keys my friend. Those big corporations will survive, don't worry about them.
And it's not like these games are in huge demand. The little demand that there was, was pocketed by greyhat resellers on sites like G2A for years.
Of course I get offended when I see another hentai, furry profile keyboard warrior saying "I'm surprised how he hasn't been PERMA banned".
Now that's toxic behaviour. Get a grip.
I like how you ignored all my points and counters and continued to be aggressive and rude and then had the gall to call ME the toxic one, take a look in the mirror.
People deserve criticism and for some reason you're freaking out and attacking me with childish insults over the fact I dare share my opinion on some Youtuber.
Plus like I said Flock isn't exactly a main example of my problems with him, it just got me thinking about him again and I felt like sharing my feelings.
As I said, he has many far more destructive exploits he's spread in the past like as I ALREADY SAID, Encouraging everyone scalp the entirety of certain market items like emotes and trading cards to the point that you control the market and can sell them at extortionate rates forcing people who want them to go through a bunch of hassle to get them, I've already addressed that Flock is a minor case and my issue is that he encourages and spreads scummy behaviour in general and that he has the potential to do and has done in the past serious damage, but you conveniently ignored all that.
(Also you're attacking me aggressively unprovoked using me having a anthro profile theme and being horny as an "Excuse"/reason to do so when it's completely irrelevant and you're striking first being a douche to me when I've never interacted with you before and you feature a bunch of nonsense that doesn't exactly have a high reputation either on your profile like 2077 and a Reddit community, you see no problem with that but think you're justified in attacking me just because I have a banner of some Anthro chick I picked up cheap on the points shop.
I don't think you're in a place to judge and demonise others intrests here, double standards much?)
But who am I kidding, You're probably going to ignore all this too (If you even bother to read it) and just go back to calling me a furry and ranting about these hypothetical SJWs and these Keyboard Warriors (That term only applies to yourself BTW) because you have no argument and you have nothing better to do with argue and attack people online without an actual point.
Scalping Steam items is that destructive? I think you should have the right to do that if you took the risk to buy all of them, that's how the market works.
In my opinion having at least 2 dozen hentai gifs on your profile is not healthy at all.
I don't get into internet arguments often, I'm not even a fan of the guy. But you did "attack" somebody to get "attacked".
Live a little, life is not fair. Companies exploit you for cheap labor and money, you might as well exploit them sometimes. No need to be morally right all the time.
He's not encouraging exploits.
He's publicizing them.
Quite different.
They exist, and people WILL use them.
And now, everyone else knows too.
