Important steps - START HERE!

ㅤ⚠️ㅤ Important steps to always take or consider taking: ㅤ⚠️

‎Starting your troubleshooting from this section is important because these steps will not only often fix most problems, but will also keep your system and game in good health so that new issues won't occur.

1) Ensure your system passes the minimal requirements:
On the game's Store Page, scroll down to the SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS section, and make sure your PC meets the requirements for the game to run. Don't worry if it doesn't, and you've already bought the game, as you can always issue a refund directly through Steam Support if you've bought it recently and haven't played for more than 2 hours.

2) Make sure Steam is running and you're logged into your account:
While the game may launch without the Steam application running, it will most likely close immediately because this game uses many of the systems and features provided by Steam to work (cloud saves, achievements, etc.). Your local save files are also stored in a location within the Steam installation folder. In some rare cases, if the game is blocked from accessing them, you may need to run Steam with administrative privileges.

Please note, that we can't support the cases where user is using an unofficial or modded Steam client (which was modified by a third-party). The same applies to illegal copies of the game.

3) Verify your game files on Steam:
An important and quick step to take any time something feels wrong. This will not only check if your files were downloaded correctly, but also check if there are any updates/hotfixes available for download. To verify, do the following:
  • Open Steam client and enter your Steam Library,
  • Select Yet Another Zombie Survivors,
  • Click the cog icon (Manage), and then "Properties...",
  • Switch to "Installed Files" tab, and press "Verify integrity of game files".
  • Close the window - Steam will check and re-download files in background.
Note: Modding the game can cause multiple different issues, or even cause it to not launch at all. In such cases, verification might not help. When modding, please make sure you know what you're doing, and you remember which files have been added by you to the game's directory.

4) Keep your system and drivers updated:
While there are exceptions to this rule (listed below), it's usually best to keep your PC up to date with the latest versions of drivers and software. We recommend that you follow these few rules:

Especially important updates to install:
  • DirectX Redistributables:
    • These should be installed by default on every modern system, but it doesn't hurt to double-check that they are available and updated, by downloading and running the installer available here[www.microsoft.com] on Microsoft website.
  • For users with Intel Processors of 13th- and 14th-generation only:
    • There are many reported unfortunate cases of issues (crashes & Blue Screen of Death) directly related to these series of CPU (processors). Most of these can be fixed by updating the BIOS version of your motherboard. Please refer to instructions for BIOS updating procedure specific to your motherboards / PC (for pre-build ones) manufacturer, as each manufacturer's method differs.

Exceptions in which updating is NOT recommended as of April 2025:
  • Microsoft Windows 11 23H2 version or older:
    • It's currently recommended NOT to update to version 24H2, which has proven to introduce new problems and was proven to cause crashes of multiple different games.
  • Nvidia / GeForce RTX cards 40xx series or older (10xx/20xx/30xx):
    • It's currently recommended NOT to update to the latest version of the drivers, and either keep the version at 566.36 or download and install these older drivers from the official download site[www.nvidia.com].

In the case of graphics drivers, it is highly recommended to install new GPU drivers after doing some cleaning to uninstall the previous ones, and using "Fresh install" options in their respective installer programs!

How to clean install of GPU drivers to avoid any potential issues:
  • Download (don't install!) drivers installer for your respective manufacturer and GPU model (Nvidia/AMD/Intel).
  • Press the Windows keyboard button, search for "Disk Cleanup" and launch it.
  • Press the "OK" button, with disk ( C: ) selected, then wait until it loads.
  • On list that appears, tick the "DirectX Shader Cache" checkbox and press "OK".
  • Download the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) application available here[www.guru3d.com].
  • Extract the files from the downloaded zip with right-click -> "Extract All...".
  • Enter the location of the extracted zip and start the DDU installer, then press "Extract".
  • Enter the new location created by installer and run the "Display Driver Uninstaller" application inside.
  • Read the precautions displayed and close the pop-up windows accepting the default settings.
  • Press the "--Select device type--" button and select the "GPU" option.
  • Press the drop-down menu directly below to select your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA/AMD/INTEL).
  • Press the big "Clean and restart (Highly recommended)" button.
  • After the process is done, your PC will restart (this is normal).
  • Install your GPU drivers you've downloaded in the first step as usual.
  • If the installer doesn't do this automatically, reboot your PC once more (important!).

Laptop: Make sure the game uses your dedicated GPU:
This step is mostly for laptop users with two separate graphics modules (GPU). One of these modules (dedicated GPU) is more powerful, and is always recommended to use when playing games over the other. Most desktop and handheld PC's (e.g. Steam Deck) have only one GPU, so if you're gaming on one, you can skip this step.
  • While on Desktop, click the Windows logo button to open Start menu,
  • Open "Settings", then select "System" > "Display" > "Graphics",
  • On the list of applications, select "Yet Another Zombie Survivors",
  • Set "GPU preference" to "High Performance (Name of your GPU)".

Steam Deck & Linux: Ensure the game uses updated Proton version:
If you're using Windows, skip this step. When it comes to SteamOS and other Linux operating systems, please make sure the game uses an updated version of Proton Compatibility Layer or Proton-GE (an unofficial version of Proton). The game should work well with the default settings provided by Steam, but in case it doesn't launch at all, you can try the following:
  • Open the game's page in your Steam Library,
  • Enter the game's properties (cog icon), then the Compatibility tab,
  • Enable "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool",
  • Set Proton version to latest (highest) one, such as 9.0 or higher.
In the case that a future Proton version breaks the compatibility with the game, you can try switching back to default version, or try different Proton versions, like "Proton Experimental" or "Proton-GE" (needs to be added with "ProtonUp-Qt" or similar application, in desktop mode).

⁉️ Game doesn't launch or starts but closes

❗First, please double-check the steps listed in the "Important steps - START HERE!" section. Especially that:
  • You're meeting the minimal requirements,
  • You're running a clean, unmodified Steam client,
  • Your Steam client has connection to the internet (for the first launch),
  • You're logged into an user account that has access to the game
(it was bought, or can be accessed through Steam Family Sharing service),
  • You're launching the game directly through Steam Library.
  • You have verified the game files on Steam.
  • Your system and drivers are up-to-date.
If the game still doesn't work, try the following:

1) Run the Steam client as an admin:
  1. Close your Steam client completely,
  2. Wait around 30 seconds to make sure the Steam process is closed,
  3. Right-click the Steam application icon and select "Run as administrator",
  4. When Steam launches, try running the game from your Steam Library.
If running Steam as admin helped, there might be a problem with your Windows user account not having enough privileges set for the game to work correctly. Consider increasing your user privileges or setting Steam to always start with admin privileges by going to the application Properties (see step three, but instead of "Run as administrator", select "Properties"), Compatibility tab, and toggling "Run this program as an administrator", then hitting "Apply" or "OK". You can do the same for the game itself (check the path to the exe file in the step below).

2) Add the game’s folder and files to your antivirus exclusions:
Antivirus software preventing games from working correctly is a very common issue related to these software seeing either Steam or the game as a false-positive/potential risk to your system (they are not, obviously). To fix this, enter your Antivirus software settings and find an option to add/modify the exclusions/exceptions, adding Steam and the game files onto a whitelist.

The default locations of the Steam client:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\

The default locations of the game (Yet Another Zombie Survivors.exe):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Yet Another Zombie Survivors\

In some rare cases, the antivirus will still block the game or Steam from working correctly (accessing files on your disk drive), even when the game is added within its exclusion settings. When this happens, turning it off will fix this issue, but will also decrease the security of your system. In such cases, we suggest that you consider changing your antivirus software to another one.

3) Try changing the resolution settings in your save game:
If you've played the game in the past on a different PC, it's possible that your saved settings aren't compatible with your current hardware. To fix this, please do the following:
  1. Make sure the game is closed.
  2. Please check this pinned forum thread on how to find your save file: ``YAZSGameSave.es3``
  3. Open this file with any text editor (e.g. right-click -> Open with... -> Notepad).
  4. Search the file (CTRL+F) for "Opt_ResolutionX" and change the "value" number right below it to: 1280
  5. Right below it, in "Opt_ResolutionY", change the "value" number to: 720
  6. Scroll down to or search for "Opt_FullScreenMode", then change its value to: 0
  7. Save the file and start the game through Steam. If the Steam prompts you about Cloud Save differences, choose to use the local save files.
The resolution values should look like this:
"Opt_ResolutionX" : { "__type" : "int", "value" : 1280 }, "Opt_ResolutionY" : { "__type" : "int", "value" : 720 },
And the fullscreen mode setting should look like this:
"Opt_FullScreenMode" : { "__type" : "int", "value" : 0 },
If you encounter any issues while following the above instruction, or don't want to edit your save manually, simply contact us, describe the issue and send us your save file, and we'll fix this for you.

4) Try running the game with a different rendering interface:
As the last option, you can try running the game with a different rendering interface (Graphics API) than the default (automatic). To do so:
  1. Open Steam client and enter your Steam Library,
  2. Select Yet Another Zombie Survivors,
  3. Click the cog icon (Manage), and then "Properties...",
  4. Enter any of the parameters listed below into the text field under the "LAUNCH OPTIONS":
Force the game to use OpenGL:
-force-gles32

Force the game to use DirectX 11:
-force-d3d11

Force the game to use DirectX 12:
-force-d3d12

The above might help, but can also decrease the framerate or even cause the game not to launch at all. In the case the above don't help, remember to remove these starting arguments to return to game's defaults.

If the above instruction didn't help, please contact us directly and let us know that you've tried the troubleshooting steps but they didn't work.

⁉️ Game crashes or freezes permanently

❗First, please double-check the steps listed in the "Important steps - START HERE!" section. Especially that:
  • You're meeting the minimal requirements,
  • Your system and drivers are up-to-date,
  • Your BIOS is up-to-date when using Intel 13th- or 14th-gen Processors,
  • Your Nvidia GPU drivers version is 566.36 when using RTX 40xx or older,
  • You're running a clean, unmodified Steam client,
  • You're launching the game directly through Steam Library,
  • You have verified the game files on Steam.
If these issues are still happening after that, try the following:

Add the game’s folder and files to your antivirus exclusions:

In such cases, we suggest changing your antivirus software to a different one.

Nvidia with multi monitor setups: Swap the display connection cables:
As strange as it sounds, there are confirmed cases of swapping the monitor cables around fixing crashes in multiple modern games, especially if they happen when switching windows (ALT+TAB). If you're running an Nvidia GPU and have more than a single display monitor enabled, please try the following:
  1. Check the graphics card display connections on the back of your desktop PC.
  2. Check if cable types are the same for two or more of your displays (e.g. HDMI or DisplayPort).
  3. Swap the connected displays slots if the cable types are the same.
If possible, you might also try changing the cable types to a different ones that are supported for both your display monitor and the graphics card you're using. It's also recommended to disable G-Sync and/or FreeSync modes in your GPU and display. For more information on that, please refer to the "Low framerate (FPS) or stuttering" paragraph below.

Help us troubleshoot the issue:
These issues can be caused by an existing bug or similar issue with the game itself. We're really sorry about each and every case of such an occurrence, and we promise to do our best to fix these issues ASAP.

We appreciate your help in troubleshooting this, so to greatly speed up the process of us updating the game with a fix, please let us know that you've encountered the issue by writing us an email.

When possible, include the following (to open the listed locations, simply copy and paste them into a Windows Explorer window, then press Enter):
  1. player.log - The log file displaying the errors, available at:
    %AppData%\..\LocalLow\Awesome Games Studio\Yet Another Zombie Survivors\

  2. Crash Logs - These are created when the game crashes, but not when it freezes and is closed manually. If you can find them in the location provided below, please archive all of them into a zip, rar, or 7z file:
    %localAppData%\Temp\Awesome Games Studio\Yet Another Zombie Survivors\Crashes\

  3. DxDiag.txt - Windows diagnostic file that contains information about the versions of your drivers. To create it, do the following:
    1. Press the Windows keyboard button, search for "dxdiag.exe" and launch it,
    2. Wait for the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to fully load (the progress bar disappears),
    3. Press the "Save All Information..." button at the bottom, and save the DxDiag.txt file.

  4. Optional: Any additional information about when the problem occurred, such as which map/game mode you were playing, how long the game was running, which Survivors you were playing as, did you ALT-TAB the game window, etc.

  5. Optional: YAZSGameSaveFile.es3 - Your save file, which you can find by following this official guide on Steam forums.‎

Thank you for your help in our mission to fix any of the remaining issues!

⁉️PC restarts, shuts down, displays BSOD

❗These issues are almost always not caused by the game itself, but this and any other applications can trigger these reactions, especially when said applications are games that put higher pressure on your computer's components.

❗First, please double-check the steps listed in the "Important steps - START HERE!" section. Especially that:
  • Your system and drivers are up-to-date.
  • Your BIOS is up-to-date when using Intel 13th- or 14th-gen Processors,
  • Your Nvidia GPU drivers version is 566.36 when using RTX 40xx or older,
  • You're running a clean, unmodified Steam client,
  • You're launching the game directly through Steam Library.
If the above steps are taken, but the game still causes your PC to crash, we recommend consulting an IT technician, as certain hardware elements of your build can be causing these issues (PSU, CPU, RAM, GPU, Motherboard). Still, if you don't mind troubleshooting on your own, please consider the following:

1) Scan the PC for any malware and other viruses:
Many malicious software can harm your PC and the way it operates. Deploy an antivirus solution and scan your system for any potentially malicious software working in the background. Either make sure that the default Windows Defender protection is enabled, and then do a full scan[support.microsoft.com] of your system, or do the same with any other antivirus software you're using.

2) Do a full operating system health scan:
Please follow this instruction[support.microsoft.com] to repair missing or corrupted system files and check if there is anything wrong with your Windows installation.

3) Make sure your PC isn't overheating:
Please use any third-party software that analyzes the temperatures of your hardware to confirm that your PC doesn't have an overheating problem. Your temperature sensors can be seen using software such as:
  • HWMonitor
  • Core Temp
  • AIDA64
If your CPU or GPU temperatures are reaching or exceeding 90°C / 194°F, this means your processor and/or graphics processing unit are overheating. If possible, please consult an IT technician on how to remedy this, or clean and underclock your hardware.

4) Disable XMP profile and other overclocks:
Overclocking or unstable settings for RAM voltage are often the culprit of instabilities within the operating system, which can become apparent with time or after some software/Windows updates.

Please refer to your motherboard's manufacturer instructions on how to access the BIOS, and turning the XMP profile off. If you've ever overclocked your processor, RAM, or graphics card, this is also a good time to restore these settings to default.

Similarly to the step above about overheating, in the cases of unstable hardware, underclocking (temporarily making your PC less efficient on purpose) can also be a beneficial option to consider.

5) Try installing the game on a different drive:
It's possible that the drive you're currently using (HDD/SSD) is faulty, and when the system tries to read or write onto a defective sector, the whole operating system can crash or freeze until it's reset.

If your PC has more than a single drive available (SDD or HDD), please try installing the game to exclude a potential issue related to the drive you're currently using. To check if there are other drives available, do the following:
  1. Open Steam client and press the Steam logo in the upper left-corner,
  2. Select "Settings", then switch to "Storage" tab.
  3. Open the drop-down menu under the "Storage" header text.
  4. Select the "Add Drive" option.

Here you will see a list of either partitions or drives available on your PC. While creating a new library location on a different partition of the same drive will not help, it's very likely that other available locations displayed are partitions of other drivers, so if there are any, Add them. After that, you'll be able to both install and move your Steam games to this new location. Please try doing so with Yet Another Zombie Survivors and check if it helps. You can also create new libraries using an external HDD or SSD drive, but remember to plug them first before launching the Steam client.

In addition, if you're using an encrypting solution, such as VeraCrypt[www.veracrypt.fr], please consider completely decrypting the drive for testing purposes, as there are known issues with how some of the disk types (e.g. M.2 NVMe) can cause sudden system freezes and crashes, especially when the C:\ drive is encrypted.

Steam Deck: SteamOS related crashes and reboots:
If you're a Steam Deck user and are encountering forced reboots or frozen screen when launching the game, please double-check the following:
  • Make sure your SteamOS is updated.
  • Try switching the Proton Compatibility Layer to a different version.
  • If you've used or installed any plugins, such as Decky Loader[decky.xyz], please check if there are updates for it (pre-release branch) or uninstall it to see if it helps.
  • If you've underclocked the device in BIOS or using a plugin, please boot to the BIOS menu and return the core clocks to their default state (0 mV).

If the above instruction didn't help, please contact us directly and let us know that you've tried the troubleshooting steps but they didn't work.

When contacting us, please provide us with your DxDiag.txt file:
  4. Press the "Exit" button, and attach the DxDiag.txt file to your message when contacting us.

⁉️Low framerate (FPS) or stuttering

❗First, please double-check the steps listed in the "Important steps - START HERE!" section. Especially that:
  • You're meeting the minimal requirements.
  • Your graphics (GPU) drivers are either up-to-date or using the
recommended drivers if you have GeForce RTX 40xx or lower.
  • Your BIOS is updated if you have an Intel 13- or 14-generation CPU.
If the problem persists, try the following:

1) Change the Vertical Synchronization (V-Sync) setting in options:
On some setups, especially ones with displays with G-Sync and/or FreeSync technologies enabled, the game can "lag" and act strangely. However, there's an easy solution to this:
  1. Launch Yet Another Zombie Survivors,
  2. When in main menu, enter Options,
  3. In Options menu, switch to the Graphics tab,
  4. Press the "Vertical Synchronization" option.
Turning this option OFF fixes most reported problems of this nature, but you can also experiment with switching it ON if it was disabled previously, as well as setting a custom framerate limit (when it's OFF).

2) Disable G-Sync or FreeSync on your display or GPU control panel:
If turning V-Sync off didn't help, please also try either disabling G-Sync and/or FreeSync in your display monitor settings, or from your graphics card control panel:

On Nvidia graphics cards:
  1. Right-click any empty space on the Desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel",
  2. Under 3D Settings, select Manage 3D Settings,
  3. Find the Monitor Technology setting, open the drop-down to its right, and set it to "Fixed Refresh",
  4. Press the "Apply" button at the bottom.
On AMD graphics cards:
  1. Right-click any empty space on the Desktop and select "AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition",
  2. Select the "Gaming" tab, then select "Display" tab,
  3. Set the "AMD FreeSync" or "VRR" toggle to Disabled (if available),
  4. On the "Graphics" tab, select "Custom",
  5. Find and set "Wait for Vertical Refresh" to "Off, unless application specifies".

3) Check if disabling some of the third-party overlays fixes your issue:
If you have any of the below applications working, please disable them before starting the game to see if it improves your situation:
  • Discord (in-game overlay)
  • Lossless Scaling
  • AMD Afterburner
  • RivaTunerStatisticsServer
  • f.lux
There might be other similar apps causing framerate drops, so be sure to try disabling every application running in the background to double-check if any of these cause potential issues in your current setup.

If closing a certain application helps, it doesn't always mean you won't be able to use it when playing, but you might need to adjust its settings, searching for options that might cause the framerate issues, especially when it comes to on-screen-display functions (OSD).

4) Lower the in-game settings and enable upscaling:
Please try entering the in-game Options menu and switching the settings to values listed below to see if these improve your game performance:
  • In General tab:
    • Damage Numbers: Off
    • Blood & Gore: Off
  • In Graphics tab:
    • Resolution: This depends on your display, but lower numbers = better performance.
    • Display mode: Fullscreen
    • Vertical Synchronization: Off
    • Framerate Limit: Uncapped
    • Overall Quality: Low
    • FSR Upscaling: Ultra Performance (lowest quality)
    • Lighting: Minimal
    • Bloom: Disabled
    • Terrain detail density: 0%
  • In Accessibility tab:
    • Visual Effects Transparency: 100%.

5) Try running the game with a different rendering interface:

⁉️Save game reset or lost progression

❗First, please double-check the steps listed in the "Important steps - START HERE!" section. Especially that:
  • You're running a clean, unmodified Steam client,
  • Your Steam client has connection to the internet (for Steam Cloud),
  • The Steam account you're logged into was the exact one
you've played the game on before the progression was lost.
If the issue still exists after that, try the following:

1) Check if your Cloud Save function on Steam is enabled:
Copies of your save files are kept online on the Steam servers. Naturally, this requires your PC and Steam client to be connected to the internet.
  1. Open Steam client and enter your Steam Library,
  2. Select Yet Another Zombie Survivors,
  3. Click the cog icon (Manage), and then "Properties...",
  4. Make sure "Keep game's saves in the Steam Cloud" is enabled (blue toggle).

If you've played the game on a computer that had Steam Cloud setting disabled or haven't been connected to the internet, your progression won't transfer from that PC to another, so that progress can get lost.

Important: If you've lost your progress after having played the game at an internet cafe or any other public computer, it's most likely the Steam client there haven't had Cloud Saves enabled or it hasn't managed to upload the save onto the cloud when you've quit the game and logged out or turned it off too soon. This is something we have no control over, so please be careful when using other PCs in cafes or other public spaces.

2) Make sure you haven't used the "Reset Progress" function:
The game allows you to deliberately reset your save back to zero. Such an option is available in the in-game Options menu, on the General tab.

To reset your save you're required to press this option and then press and hold a confirmation button, so that it can't be used by an accident. Still, there might be cases that someone else who has access to your PC (e.g. your siblings) could have used it.

If this option was used, don't worry! You can restore your save from a backup (see point number 4 below).

3) Confirm that you haven't used any third-party mods or cheats/trainers:
Remember, that by using such tools you assume full responsibility on any potential issues they may create. If your save has strange values, such as not enough skill points, or wrong unlock status of different unlockables, please let us know about the fact that you've been using mods or cheat software when you send us your save game for repair. This step is important as we need to know if the issues could have been caused by the game's code/error or by the external modifications.

4) Restore your previous save with the automatic backup system:
The game automatically keeps 10 backups of the save file, which are made each time you start the game. Please check this pinned forum thread on how to restore a backup of your save game file.

If the above instruction didn't help, please send us your save files and we'll fix them for you.

⁉️Characters stopped aiming / shooting

The game is an auto-shooter, but you can also manually control both your aim direction and attacks from your weapon. If the characters stopped aiming by themselves or no longer attack on their own, do the following:
  • Press the E keyboard button to switch the aiming mode.
  • Press the R keyboard button to switch the firing mode.
Or
  1. When in main/pause menu, enter Options,
  2. In Options menu, switch to the Controls tab,
  3. Set "Manual aim" to: OFF,
  4. Set "Auto fire" to: ON.

⁉️Issues related to the in-game camera

In case of any issues related to how the camera works when playing the game, please try the following:
  1. Launch Yet Another Zombie Survivors,
  2. When in main menu, enter Options,
  3. In Options menu, switch to the Accessibility tab,
  4. Change the "Camera Movement" setting to "Centered".
This setting is especially recommended in the cases that the camera movement is causing you to feel naseous, or it causes you motion sickness / headaches.

While the camera distance itself is tied to multiple important parameters of the game, from optimization, to balance, and it can't be modified in the current version, we hope that the above setting will help in most cases of troubles related to how the playable field is displayed.

⁉️Map, mode, or difficulty isn't accessible

To unlock higher difficulty levels, you first need to either win a run or survive a set amount of minutes of each game mode on each of the maps. The unlocked difficulty levels are separate for every map and each game mode. Unlocked difficulty levels can be selected on the "SELECT LOADOUT" page, right before you start each run.

To unlock new game modes, you need to either win a run or survive a set amount of minutes in the highest game mode you have unlocked. These unlocks are separate for each of the maps.

To unlock a new map, you only need to win a Default mode run on the last available map you have unlocked so far. There might be maps that require other conditions to unlock, which you can check by hovering over their icons, unless either the map or the conditions are secret.

Note: Not all maps are unlockable in the Early Access version.

⁉️Unlocked weapons are not available

Each playable character (Survivor) has three tiers of weapons in their kits. You will progress each game by starting with the first tier option. After ranking it up to rank 4 with level-ups, you'll be able to change your weapon into its tier 2 option. After doing the same 4 rank-ups with the tier 2 option, you'll be able to roll and select one of up to three different tier 3 weapon options. Here's a graph of this progression for the SWAT Survivor:

Tier 1:
Tier 2:
Tier 3:
On Rank 4+
On Rank 4+
Assault Rifle
Pistol
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ---->
SMG
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ---->
Sniper Rifle
Grenade Launcher

As you collect the Specialization points on each of your Survivors, you'll unlock new weapon options for them. These options will always have their respective tier tied to them. As such, if the weapon you're looking for is of the same tier than the other(s), you'll need to pick it instead of the other options of the same tier. Taking the above example - you can never have the Assault Rifle and the Grenade Launcher at the same time, nor can you evolve one into another by ranking it up.

To see your available weapon options, check any of the following:
  • Start -> SELECT TEAM LEADER (the panel on the left),
  • Zombiepedia -> Weapons (list of unlocked Weapons),
  • Upgrades -> Survivor's name (weapons are tied to each).

⁉️Leaderboard verification issues

To add a verification video, you need to enter the Leaderboards menu from the Main Menu screen. Once you select the parameters of the run you've played, there will be a text bar near the bottom of the screen. Here, you can paste the address to the video you have previously uploaded to any of the supported video sharing platforms.

At the time of writing, you can upload your videos to:
Once the video is uploaded onto any of the above platforms, copy its link and paste it into another tab of your internet browser to double-check that it's correct and it links to your verification video.

With a confirmed link, go back to your game, and paste that link into the text bar mentioned above. Check if the link is correct (it should starts with "https://" and ends with either ".com" or its local domain equivalent), and press the button to the right to upload it.

Your verification video should appear by your score on the Leaderboards. If this is not the case, please contact us directly and paste your video link in the message content, so that we can check what could be wrong.

⁉️Attacks or effects aren't displayed

This is most likely due to Effect Transparency (Accessibility) option being set to a high amount. The Effects Transparency percentage shows the amount of transparency applied, so when at 100%, most in-game effects become fully transparent.

Please do the following:
  1. Launch Yet Another Zombie Survivors,
  2. When in main menu, enter Options,
  3. In Options menu, switch to the Accessibility tab,
  4. Lower the Effects Transparency setting to 0%.

⁉️Game takes a very long time to load

In most cases, this might indicate that the HDD/SSD drive the game is installed on is either slow or it might even be reaching the end of its life.

Note: If the game loaded faster in a previous version you played in the past, it's most likely due to the amount of content we've added since then. While we're doing our best to optimize this process, the more content we add to the game, the longer loading screens can become, which is a natural process.

⁉️Progress doesn't save / resets on restart

This happens most often due to the Steam or the game itself not having enough system privileges to create and modify files in the save game location. Please check if there are any error details displayed in the main menu, as we've programmed a notification that will let you know about this and propose solutions.

Setting the Steam and the game to run as administrator and adding them to your antivirus exclusions should help in most of these cases. Please follow the instructions in the "Game doesn't launch or starts but closes" section on how to apply both fixes.
