How do I play with people?

I get put in the game myself. Whether I pick "squad" or "fill". I'm by myself. Does the game just start even if I don't get teammates?

When I was playing the beta a fair amount I would queue as 'fill' then it would put me in a team, sometimes when there was not enough players I'd get dropped in by myself but more often in a team.

Need a way to identify teammate its impossible with random they just anyhow shoot own team
