Do you delete a lot of things?
I'm still new to the game. I'm at a point now where I think I just want to clear all my belts to make the new shapes.

In other games, like Satisfactory, it was often beneficial to keep a factory, to use it to make new parts, but here, in the early game at least, it just seems better to start from scrarch?

all the time. the second chain of tasks is completed, factory built for it is going to trash.

Yup, as soon as the task is done I select an output hit O then hit X. I then follow any space belts backwards and delete foundation blueprints I put down until I hit the miners/fluid.

I would save some more generic designs as blueprints. Designing everything from scratch again is not necessary
And some shapes are good for additional points, if the keep running

I only keep what you need for the Operator points later on as they provide a nice passive income.

I do after each Milestone so far.

Yup, The only time i`ve kept anything after completing a milestone is because its sending Operator Points. Once i`ve deleted everything else, i try to condense the operator part and confine it to an area with inputs i`m not likely to need for the next set of tasks.
My only tip is to never forget that the factory must grow

TL;DR All the time.

Task factories are about upgrade points, not perfection. Delete and move on.

Milestone factories are permanent until I gain enough upgrades and tech to make a redesign worth it. Other than that I leave them alone.

Not really... just cut here and there, reroute this and that and voila, new shape is made.
