Make Completed Tasks Useful
Its really disappointing that after every task the factory you set up is completely worthless and rip the whole thing up...

Wish task shapes final shape would count towards operator score. Maybe at like 1/100th the value of the normal operator shapes. Maybe give Blueprint points.

Just something, anything, to give a reason to not just tear up everything after every task.

This game is in early access and -just- became playable. I am absolutely sure that the game will have some frustrations reduced over time.

That's what Shapez meant, even the most effective player still can't avoid rip things for good, the difference between a good operator and a spaghetti builder is a good operator can easily deploy setups with minimal change to the factory, keep external routing neat etc.

Except that the task shapes you make after completing the task are completely worthless. Its not an issue of spaghetti or good building, its an issue of it just being disappointing that the stuff you planned and lain out is complexly meaningless now.

Just anything to make having all this factory i set up not be meaningless pre-MAM would be nice. Hence operator points (ie research+platformlimit, not rank) or blueprint tokens. Right now blueprint tokens only comes from one simple specific shape which making it task related will be nice addition.

have you reached the operator level yet? It requires you to keep producing the operator level shapes.

For the tasks - the issue is that with 34 task lines, it could become a bit much to maintain.

Open to suggestions though!

Yeah im at the crystal milestone now. The operator shapes is why i want tasks to be kind of like that, but in a super weaker way. Just some small incentive to go megafactory wide and not rip up the entire place. Ive done all the tasks at my milestone tier but my factory is only like 4 massive chunks because... theres just not a lot of factory space needed with just the 4 operator shapes + blueprint token shape.

Id probably prefer blueprint tokens as an infinite reward from tasks more, the current best token shape is pretty simple to make, too simple even.

In factorio once youve made red and green science packs they still have use after the red/green only techs. You keep those around, expand on theme even more, etc. Would just be nice if there was something beyond the 6 milestone shapes. Even if its just the later, more complex milestone tasks.

I have not had a chance to play yet. Hope to soon!
But as Reece says, really should keep old stuff flowing.
Part of the challenge and drive to mega factories for factorio is you have to figure out how to build the new science while maintaining solid production rates of earlier science to keep up with the research demand.

I see a lot of potential to mega factories with how the galaxy is setup, but whats the point if everything you build is eventually useless?

also +1 vote for co-op/multi-player support.. 4,000hrs+ in factorio.. over 3,000hrs is in co-op mode with friends building mega factories with mods making it even harder and more diverse.

Cant wait to see what shapes2 develops into.

the factory must grow!

I prefer being able to rip down old factories, it would make it extremely cumbersome to have to maintain all of them. You would run out of space EASILY without an insane amount of pre-planning,

So just... dont? Theres a reason i want it to be super minor. The map is infinite, just tear it up and move on then. I want to maintain and expand a minmax super massive megafactory; hence tasks make me sad having to delete it all when done.

The game isn’t designed to do that, so to add something like that would be pretty detrimental to the overall game experience for most players.

They would need to at least allow you to build additional vortexes, for example, as a way to keep the game from becoming a chore.

MAMs exist, so the game is designed to do something like that.

You can also throw trains into the vortex, which give near infinite throughput. Extra vortexs are not needed.

Lotta people got problems with "i dont want to delete my factory after every task"... Like damn i just want more endlessgoal shapes varieties beyond the 6 from milestones and before a MAM.

That seems kinda pointless. Like, your won't delete your factory, but... you will just look at it without any changes. What's the point?
It also was a feature of previous part, so you had to organize your factory to complete universal tasks instead of creating single figure.
And that's not about MAM, you could make big stacker, painter, cutter and change inputs depends on request

But overall I'd like to NOT running 100500 factories at a time. Useless perfomance consumption

To play Devil's Advocate, the game is EXTREMELY optimized, EASILY able to support 100,000+ machines.

For perspective my game right now has 163k machines with 4.7k platforms, and im getting smooth 60fps and zero UPS slowdown.

So just dont then? i dont see how to you it would be any different running 100k machines doing repeating task goals or 100k machines doing the current system of operator shapes.

Im at 163k machines already all on operator shapes and running just fine.
