Still, I don't see what you can meassure apart from how long time it took you to go from one milestone to another, and honestly I do not see the reason to do so, this is a nice relaxing game where the whole point is just to faff about and experiment and construct spaghetti monstrosities. I do not see what any such thing will add to the game, but would rather just distract from it.
If something like this was implemented, I would very much like to have to option to turn it off, please.
It gave the players replayability, I can’t tell you how many times I redo TIS 100 (or any zacktronics games ) level just because leaderboard showed me I did it poorly (or if I had very good solution, try to do it even better)
exactly. it really drives re/playability. the developer doesn't even need to know what the most efficient/fastest/etc solution is - the community naturally discover it. knowing there is a more efficient solution, keeps me playing until I figure it out. then i play again to find the fastest solution. etc.
otherwise it's just a glorified idle game, which really seems like a waste. at any rate, with histograms implemented - those who wish to play it like an idler can still do so, and those who want to keep playing to find the best solutions/designs can do so. everyone's happy.
Although I'd have posted when you broke 500.
Yeah, but leaderboards implemented via steam tend to be filled with cheaters. To the point where the top 100 all have the same score (e.g. level 65535 or some arbitrary maxvalue). Seen this basically in every steam game that has something like that. There is not much added value in seeing where you place behind all cheaters.
XD
