Red Cross - This shape is never required
Grey Checkmark - This shape was required but you already delivered enough

Oh, I see. Is it correct that shapes required from Side Tasks will be marked Red Cross when delivered? Where as Milestone shapes will get the Grey Checkmark?

Good question. I also found this a bit inconsitent.

I think that might be not intended then, we'll have a look! If you can reproduce this, feel free to report it as a bug on the discord :)

Dont milestone shapes all turn into operator points? So they should have the purple star and never a grey checkmark

The initial milestone shapes don't, so it still applies to them

Just adding my voice to say I also found this confusing. Still playing the tutorial where I've only ever delivered shapes that were required at one point, and some of the delivery indicators are now red crosses and others are grey checkmarks.

Is there ever a reason these situations need to be differentiated? Seems like one symbol to mean "this isn't needed at the moment" would be sufficient.

Coming from shapez 1, something that often happened was that a future design would be built from the pieces of previous design. So my assumption for having the "used to be required" icon is to make you consider leaving that factory intact instead of dismantling it completely. That's just a guess, though.

I think we can improve it in the future to streamline it. However, yes it is needed -as it's important to know whether the factory will still be needed in the future

I've been wondering what the difference was at first as well, but I think I've figured it out, if you can confirm for me.

Red Cross: Not required as a deliverable shape anymore, and won't ever be part of a future deliverable shape either.
Green Checkmark: Correct, keep delivering.
Gray Checkmark: Not required as a deliverable shape anymore, but is or will be part of a different deliverable shape.
Lock: Correct as a future deliverable shape, but not yet.
Blueprint: Blueprint shape (challenge difficulty only).

Edit: Okay I've already found an exception to this. I have a RuRu----:RuRu---- being delivered with a red X, but one of my current tasks is RuRuCuCu:RuRu----

I don't want to submit a bug report though until I understand what exactly those indicators are supposed to mean though :)

I will also ask in discord.

Uhh, I think red cross only checks if the shape itself can be used as a layer. I have a shape showing a red cross that can still be used if I merge it together with another 2 layer item to make a full item.

Hard - Task #12 Hunter's Badge Part 4 shows a red X if you're still delivering Part 3, but Part 3 can be combined with something else to make Part 4.

Part 3: Cb----Cu:Cu----Cb
Part 4: CbRrRrCu:CuRuRuCb

(Or maybe it's just that Task showing wrong)

I liked this line of thought as the difference between the Red Cross and Gray Checkmark, maybe to know if I can remove the entire factory or keep it to contribute to another shape goal
