1a. being able to store the MapGen settings, with a name, to reuse would be so helpful.
1b. if they could be shared like blueprints, it'd allow sharing a kind of world design for various community challenges.
2. input boxes because sliders are actually horrible to use when trying to do exact amounts. some of the settings I can't get it to set them to a multiple of 100 and it's annoying.
Also, I think the UI was designed by devs who know the inner workings of the generation algorithms so the UI serves that. However, it's lacking design to support those who use the UI.
One simple change, don't regenerate the map until there's been a long enough delay, or, better, make it a button to regen on click. The button becomes available when something has changed. That way, I can change a bunch of settings and then click the button for it to regen. All the regen'ing over and over which I don't want to happen yet is wasted time, and there's a whole lot of that.
I doubt there's much interest in changing the MapGen UI, but, if there's any interest in some opinions on it I could provide a deluge of ideas.
(Also, @Kyouko Tsukino, this is in General Discussions instead of Suggestions & Ideas)
