Issue with painters when off screen
First of all thanks for the game, really enjoying it.

I've noticed that the performance of my painter setup drops off when I'm not looking at it but fixes itself when I observe it.

The only thing I've noticed is the amount of fluid in the painter goes up in steps of 2 when it's off screen but steps of 1 when on screen.

I'm guessing due to using a pipe filter that can only let through exactly enough fluid the 4 painters need this is causing delays.

I have noticed the same thing, painters in my MaM seem to slow down.

I suspected that it might have something to do with having certain lengths of space pipe between the pipe gate and the painters, since most of the time, I can't get it to fix itself just by looking at it.

In a smaller test setup that directly connected platforms with pipe filters to platforms with painters, I could fix it by looking at it.

Fluid launchers seem to exhibit the same behaviour of the fluid amount going up smoothly when looking at them and in steps when they're off screen which might be adding to the issue.

I've just noticed the same thing. I started having problems when I added pipe valves to my MAM

Chiming in. Just made a color mixer and colorizer, for full saturation, and the next step in the chain still requires full belt saturation. So by not looking I'm often at 80% and when I want to go find out (because the newly implemented painting station has to be the culprit), it most often than not it gets sorted out by itself.

I think it's the pipe gate, I tried putting a fluid tank before and after it with some amount of fluid in and full usage downstream.

When looking at it both tanks stay full.

When not looking at them the tank before the gate starts filling, the tank after the fluid gate starts emptying.

Seems reasonable, it always just fills up to paint the tile.
Concerning fluid launchers, I made a test without them, same issue. So probably not that primarily.

It's definitely the pipe gate, when I removed all the pipe gates everything worked perfectly.

It's reacting on a quantum level, LoL. It only exists when you observe it

Having the same issue with my MAM; also seems like 80% throughput when I'm not looking. I'm using pipe gates and didn't have the issue in the previous version.

Schrodingers Paint...

tl;dr
I have this "Schrödingers Cat"-Feature right now and it drives me crazy.
2 of 4 lanes are bringing just the half of tiles. When I go to the production spot, it needs around 30 second and all belts go full. Magical!
In my case, it has nothing to do with paint (as far as I can see).

<EDIT>
As it stands, I have to revise my statement.
Its totally possible, that the pipe gates are the reason.

+1 to observing my setup magically fixes it, from 80% to 100% :)

My doubts are nearly killed. I removed all pipe gates and the problem never appeared again.

Do you mean the fluid launchers and catchers? I'm not using any of the advanced/wiring stuff atm and it's still happening to me

No, I mean the pipe gates. Its a new wire item.
