shapez 2

shapez 2

2 questions about gameplay
Hi. In the original you were expected to keep your early machines so they could be re-used in later levels. This meant the factory would get quite cluttered with old machines that were probably not as efficient as they should be! Is it the same in shapez2 or does the factory start fresh each level?

Also in the original you had to 'pay' for copy+paste. Is it the same in shapez2?

Thanks :-)

I've never played the original, but in this game, there is a cost for copy and paste, as well as blueprints, but when starting a new game, you can set a custom difficulty, and one of the options is to remove that mechanic.

Edit: Oh, about blueprints. You can basically save things you build to a file, then delete it, and load copies any time you like, so you won't have to worry about saving your machines all over the place. Also, blueprints are saved as files on your hard drive, meaning you can go to the blueprint folder, then share your blueprints with other people.

Copy and paste is free, blueprints are free. You can keep old machines, but it's honestly not worth it. I frequently build large chunks new and further spread out, once I created a new proper blueprint (which utilizes unlocked bonuses).

Thanks both of you for the quick replies :-) Buying now...

To clarify, both of the previous replies were right, because blueprint cost is an option. Those who want the extra limitation can have blueprint costs, those who don't can just build dozens of copies of everything for free. Same applies to platform limit.

Shapez 2 is a better game because it lets the player choose, and yet requires the same kind of puzzle-like mechanics to create efficient production lines.

Edit: In either case, copy-paste cost can be very cosmetic, as it's extremely easy to build a farm for blueprint points very early into the game, and I always end up with millions of blueprint points by the time I'm delivering the final milestone shape.

You will have some clutter for your milestone shapes as their continual delivery grants you resources. However, the delivery method is almost infinite compared to Shapez 1. Even without a certain upgrade, you can get up to 48 inputs on the Vortex.

With a line of upgrades, you can have 144 inputs into the vortex. And with another one, you can have a potentially infinite number of shapes being thrown into the vortex every second. The only limit to how many shapes you're delivering is how much strain your computer can take before burning out.

Regarding re-using machines...
It will show you in the milestone and task list what's coming in a particular chain of tasks, and it's usually worth planning ahead a bit and keeping/extending your machinery making shapes for that particular line of tasks, since they tend to incrementally build on previous steps. Other than that, I have no qualms about wiping out huge swathes of machinery if it's in the way, and I don't have a (near) immediate use for it.

Tasks are gone once finished and submitted, the factories could be gone for good. However milestones stay forever, the only thing should be done is to maximize the milestone output using research unlocks, replacing platforms with less efficient layout with a better one. Or in an even more greedy way just copy those factories to boost the milestone even more.
