Filler Wagons what do they do?
Do I need them?

They place an empty gap between train cars if you need to space them out. I used them early game until I got a little better at condensing my blueprints. It can also make things look aesthetically more pleasing if you're into that.

Lets say on your train rail 2 trains meet. Red train fills on one and three but green train fills on two but they both drop off at the same point. While the rail *does* meet up, it also isn't practical to route either train to the other load zones. Or if you have multiple trains running the same route but want them on different stops.

On the red train, you can use a filler wagon in the 2nd wagon slot because it never needs to load or unload there, and filler wagons are very cheap compared to fluid or shape wagons. Your green train can do the same for it's first wagon slot.

This is semi important when it comes to unloading for the vortex (before you have the train dunk upgrade). This will stop you from having red train's cargo from blocking Green's cargo. Ideally you want your trains to arrive on time and not backing up at either unload or loading.

Thank you for the replies. Seems I don't need them as I only have one train on any line carrying one resource but now I know if I ever feel the need for a complicated rail network.
