No.they have made mandatory in last update that the game must check the update on boot so thier is no way you can play it in offline mode they had made internet mandate

Yea, i cant figure out why they choose this path when designing games..

It was simply to combat the rampant piracy.

They dint design the game like this , they just added this ridiculous thing in the last patch with a excuse that the they want to curb piracy and to stop cheating in multiplayer mode . This is the only single player game in my entire library where i need to connect to online to play it .

I've got my time on this game - 150 and loving it, but won't be buying any more updates (DM15 or whatever) if this requirement is maintained for future version - I'm not "making a point" it's just that I can't play them so it's money down the pan for me.
If the internet was a hell of a lot better than it is, then this might make sense, but where I live, as in many places, the internet i's complete crap then insisting on always on basically means "no game".

Would you prefer to have the developement of the game stop!

Piracy of software is the reason for the online rquirement.

Also the Devs have stated in another of Doc Clarks posts that the internet connection is only required during each initial boot of the game and is not required after that for that session.

I completely support developers on this.Being in India I know that internet is not available at all the plaes but then its the pirates who have forced the developers. I do agree that it would have been better if this requirement was there since begining so that people can make informed decision but at the end of the day the developers have every right to protect what is their property. Think people.. no one is ready to invest their time and money in developing cricket games due to limited market and piracy...appreciate what big ant has done !

Well that's disappointing. I was looking at buying this today actually but glad I didn't - no way I'm going to support such anti-consumer nonsense. It doesn't directly mention the online-only requirement on the store page anywhere I can see, and as far as I can see the only part that implies it is in the specifications, hidden behind a drop down which seems a little dishonest as well.

Edit: Oh sorry it's also somewhat vaguely alluded to in the "features" added in the 1.14 patch, almost at the bottom of a list of about thirty changes.

For one, it's not 'hidden'. The drop down box is something that Steam implemented, we have no say over how the text gets put in there.

Secondly, it's placed where it is on the list of fixes as the list is based on chronological order of the fixes going into the game.

We're not trying to pull a fast one anywhere.

The game also isn't 'online-only'. It requires a connection upon boot and from then, it does not need a connection.

Ok, didn't realise the first bit. I based my impressions off how I thought I've seen games with DRM like SecuRom having large notices on the side in the past, though not sure if I can see them now so I'm guessing it's a steam policy rather than specific with this game. Still a bit of a shame that DRM isn't disclaimed more visibly on more games, either way.

Also, for all intents and purposes it may as well be online-only, if you don't have an active internet connection when you want to start playing then you won't be able to (unless I've completely misunderstood and it's a one-time only check in?).

Excuse me but you are indeed pulling a fast one. That's exactly what you did, and no amount of denying it will undo what you've done.

The game I purchased didn't require an Internet connection. Now it does because of your "fix" applied in the last update.

Further more, you seem confused. When you say the game "isn't online only", that would be wrong. The game cannot be played without an internet connection. It doesn't matter that this requirement is at boot, or at the start of a match of during a bowler's run-up, the fact is that nobody is playing this game without the internet, so the game is "online only", which is not in line with the vast majority of Steam games.

Get with the program and "fix" your "fix", and by that I mean, please roll back that brain-dead, uptight internet requirement.

I will be making a refund request as this renders the game virtually unuseable for me. It is fair enough to launch a game with a requirement to have a permanent internet connection but totally unacceptable to introduce it without warning months down the line long after pocketing my money.

Talk about piracy all you like but this is one customer who supported you with a pre-order who you've lost for good and I expect you will lose a lot of goodwill over this.

Well, to rub salt into the wound, I just bought a Dell Venu 8 Pro Tablet at a bargain price :)

However, no 3G module.... I bought Gestureworks gameplay in steam ( it allows you to Map gamepad/Keyboard keys to onscreen touch controls ) and what do you know ? EVERY game in steam works in offline mode accept DBC ( without 3G module i cant game away from home).... So i installed my pirate version, few patches behind, but it works and it has a online gameplay feature as well ...

The only thing this "online check" has done, is force paying customers to turn to piracy, so the very thing you have tried to prevent, you have now made a reality. I now have the pirate version installed on both my Toshiba and my Venu....

I think that is a great idea Mystro, I think i should also ask for a refund request, no point in having both legal and pirate versions on my PC, it is wasted space.

I will also not buy any future titles from Bigant, neither will any of my friends, that much i can promise you.

I can't even play it anymore. On start up it tells me I must be online to play Don Bradman Cricket 14. I AM connected to the internet, but when I push the buttton to continue the screen flickers and returns me to the "you must be online to play Don Bradman Cricket 14", over and over and over again.

The update requirement of an internet connection has broken my game. What am I supposed to do now developer?
