BORING COMMENTARY
Repeating and irritating mistakes makes playing for more than one day difficult.

The one I can think of now is when a new bowler comes in to bowl. The question is posed and answered in exactly the same way twice before the first ball bowled.

Stupid mistakes repeating like the batsmen hitting his shoe and the commentary tells ua the ball is in the air... whatever.

I will add to this as I remember, maybe someone else can think of some...

Everyone knows (including Big Ant) that the commentary is not the best feature and there are many inconsistencies and errors...but on a limited budget it is difficullt to get right. I turned commentary off on day one, so if it annoys you just turn it off.

WHAAAATTTT!!!!! I've been playing for 384 hours now (what a waste of a life...) and NOW you tell me I can turn off the commentary????? I hate you Dr. Dee...

Seriously, though, isn't it about time they updated it? Surely the game's been out long enough to get rid of the mistakes and put some new stuff in. Perhaps another voice or two as well. Unless, of course, they are working on DBC 15...

They're developing DBC16 so I wouldn't expect any changes to the commentary before then. DBC14 plays just fine without commentary...if you really need it consider providing your own with your best impersonations of your favourite commentators...though any witnesses may start to question your sanity.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who accompanies myself with my very best RitchieB.

Problem with any commentary is what exactly do you want to hear? Everyone is different.

I honestly would prefer a 'matter of fact' style commentary. Such as " hit into the covers 1 run"
or "that brings the 100 up". Pretty boring really, but probably adds to the immersion. The current duo is laughable at best and sometimes classic but wrist slashing most of the time.

Given that I have probably spent 90% of my 560-ish hours playing the game in Career Mode I haven't really wanted commentary...as, from an immersion point of view, it would count against the feeling of being out in the middle....however, good the commentary was.

we want more commentators. We want commentators from different countries. Also less commentary errors . for e.g in a 50 over match, the commentator says that's the end of powerplay after first 5 overs of the innings, commentator crediting the bowler for his 5th wicket even though the wicket was lost because of a run-out, etc.

I think there are more pressing issues in regards to this game than commentary. Again with a sports game I want to see the game played out properly first with all rules followed, have it be statistically accurate and have it be a great sim and be able to play against reasonable AI. Announcing, better graphics, and other things are secondary to me and I hope secondary to many who want to see a great cricket game.

yes they are secondary but they make the game exciting.

I tend to agree. I think graphical improvements will come with DBC16 (and a lot more I hope too). I would argue that DBC14 still has a way to go to be a proper simulation...no other game has got this close but I don't think the intention was to produce a full sim game. It does a lot of things very well and actually has, despite a few annoyance here and there, a competitive AI. No other cricket game has managed this.

I play close to 100% of my game in career mode. To me its what makes this game so good despite the annoyances that we see from time to time. The commentary is, as you say, a distraction and for some can break the immersion. However I have played without commentary and likewise I find the game a bit flat when doing that. For me some form of commentary is needed, just not the two stoogers that we have now. Each to their own I guess.

Okey, I made my point. It is nice to find that you find the "two stooges" irritating. I LOVE THE GAME and know how to play without commentary but the ambiance it gives make it a better experience. Glad to see you working on it for '06.

I would love to have an alternative set of stooges (just a suggestion). Maybe a Surfer Dude Duo, a set of boring Aussies (like you have), New guys trying (mistakes all over the place with cricket as well as broadcasting), Indians who know the game talking with an acsent and then the ultimate "South Africans", ex Proteas (hehe).

Thank you for this lovely game.

Maybe the idea is to make us laugh. Listen to this joke .... The Batsman gets a hundred and the idiots reckon "fine hundred on debut" ... three balls further I he gets bowled and the idiots maths go haywire for the "batsman missed his 4000'th carreer run in this form of the game by 5 runs". HEHE .... thanks guys, you 're funny.

I play with the commentary off now. I turn the other sound effects like the crowd noise and stadium announcer all the way up. It makes for a a pleasant day's play. You still feel immersed in the match with the sound of the leather cracking against willow. Don't miss the commentary at all.
