I have seen that if i play cover drive on back foot, most of my shots either goes to boundary or at least i can take single (i do have to find right timing every time though). but i found this the safest shot to play as you can play this on overpitched deliveries too without getting bowled. I want to check if this strategy works for others. So, please post your comments.

Best advice? Pray for a thick medium-pacer (and his captain) who doesn't move his mid-off and mid-on back to long-off and long-on when you start slogging! Got 6 sixes in an over that way all straight down the ground. Out first ball of next over to another quicker bowler...

i wonder if others also noticed this:
When taking guard, if your press the right stick, you can see the bowler's biggest strength and his biggest weakness, likewise if you are bowling, before the run up pressing the right stick will tell you the batsman's strenght and weakness.
Is it anywhere in the manual?

I cant see anuthing like that (I play on PC) :( can be specific as what you mean by "Pressing the Right Stick" ?

If you're using an xbox type controller, pushing down, as in down into the pad, will bring up a small window in the top right hand corner of the screen.
That window details the bowlers/batsmans strengths and weaknesses.

Think this option is not available to PC controller. Sad!!

But 'pushing down the right stick' during the runup gets to the bowling jump. right ?

Do you mean before the run up ? - Thats when I chose where to land the ball (Full/Good length or Short pitch)

As soon as bowler leave ball, try to guess to its line and length for some time it make things easier

Yes, a PC controller, that is like the xbox controller. The right and left sticks also have a push button, when you push the stick into the controller.
This is done prior to selecting your delivery, when bowling, and prior to the bowler starting his runnup if you're batting.

Ashy, you're not following what MG and Mish-anthrope are saying. On an XBOX controller the sticks can be pressed like a button. He's not saying move it directionally downwards (to a 6 o'clock position), he's saying press it. This will, indeed, bring up a window showing strengths and weaknesses. Not always very enlightening (Strength: Front Foot; Weakness: Front Foot...is a combination I've seen) but it's there. Everyone on here is playing on PC, by the way.

I found that the best thing to do is to hit most of the 'bad' deliveries to square leg. For this, I defend everything until the field is set to have a silly mid-off/point, silly mid-on, leg gully and short midwicket then hit the ball through square leg. If they put a deep square leg in, defend until he is moved. If you can't hit through square leg you can occasionally drive through mid on, mid off or the covers if there are gaps. Also sweep, reverse sweep or charge spinners (make sure you get the timing right).

Three most important points for batting.

1. Keep camera at batsman close.

2. Turn off the aerial Ball marker (except for spinners)

3. Do not watch the ball for quick bowlers. Instead keep watching the stumps on the opposite end and the pitch. When the ball is delivered you have to pick up if its coming outside off or across to leg. You will pick the line more correctly this way and you will pre-meditate less and play balls on their merit with ease and confidence. Of course this will take some work on the nets. With time you will be picking the line like an expert. You have to still watch the ball for medium pacers. watch for the slower deliveries.

Also this method will prepare you for veteran and legend levels.

With the spinners turn on the aerial markers so you know which side the ball will turn. If you want to up the difficulty then turn it off to face a challenge.
Hope this helps. Have fun and happy batting.

So i would like to clarify few points i stated earlier and add a few more.
Trust me these tips will improve your batting immesurably as it did mine.

First and most important point. Have patience. You cannot hit every ball and score off it. So relax, take it easy and enjoy the game.

1. take a step inside the crease for fast and fast medium bowlers. and take a step out of the crease for medium pacers and spinners. You can do this by pushing the LAS front or back during the run up.

2. When you face quick bowlers, watch the corridor on the pitch between the bowler and the stumps on the opposite end. This is very very important. Turn off the aerial marker and do not watch for the ball. Just watch for the line. It doesn't matter if the bowler comes over or around the wicket. Just keep your eyes on that corridor. This method will make you invincible against fast bowling.

3. Do not run till you are sure the ball has cleared the inner field. Be patient. You dont have to win all the matches or take many runs. For starters, just make it your goal to stay not out in every match you play as a career batsman.

Hope this helps. Happy batting,

By the way all i said was assuming you are playing your career on pro mode.
Anything below that is not for real cricket sim seekers.
Practice on the default nets. As Sir Don. Set the bowler to legend and set the batsman to poor. And set the difficulty to legend... Then bat using the points i wrote earlier.
Also 1 last thing... if you are feeling really confident, try sledging the bowler... It can be done. Your Batsman can sledge at the bowler.

Press X Y or B on the controller before he runs in. Your batsman will point to the corresponding direction mocking the bowler. But be warned.. this produces at least two brutal deliveries. Give it a go at the nets.
Cheerio. Happy batting.
