Sam B or Xain Mei

So now the game is out a good amount of time and surely many finished the game. I stopped because of many issues and the choice of the character, maybe there are now more and better opinions for me. And no i dont use the DI Helper because it doesnt help me at all maybe its a nice tool for some people but i dont like it, at least because it doesnt really fix the stuttering.

I want to know which char i should play, i have from the old dead island Sam B and Xian mei. Both have good and bad things, Xain Mei is awesome in damage and Sam B is great at crowd control. Xian Mei is really cool to play but Sam B is the cooler character with great shouts.

Ps: There is the choice only for that two characters no one else.

Xian because she's more fun to play and has much better stamina, allowing you to stay in combat for as long as you want.

i recomend sam b becasue its fun, and hes got good skills and a regen ability that make a decent difference becasue health its hard to find the game

Honestly, I've played Sam B the most in Dead Island 1 because of how good he is at setting up kills for other people with his knockdown prowess. But I'm gonna have to vote for Xian Mei on this one.

Spectre got buffed for Xian Mei in Riptide. Before, it only works in coop but now, it's good for solo play too. Seriously, walkers will just ignore you until you engage them which makes the game so much easier for her. Then add in her natural strengths from Dead Island 1 which are: high single target damage, outstanding initial stamina pool and regen, and ridiculously fast fury building. Then bam, you got a really OP character.

As for Sam B, his tackle skill seems to either have a wonky hit detection or the animation's much slower now so it's not as reliable as back in Dead Island 1. As for knockdowns, John can actually compete with Sam B in that regard - which makes Sam B's knockdown expertise not that unique. And ofc, he still retains his biggest weakness from Dead Island 1: ♥♥♥♥ stamina.

Ultimately it's up to you. If you wanna play with a really powerful char, go with Xian. If you like Sam B's personality more, then go with him.

Knockdowns are easy. Jump + kick knocks down all walkers and infected. For Purna and Xian who regain stamina on kills, you can knockdown and stomp as much as you want. For the other characters, that's just not possible. It makes tackle completely obsolete.

Fury building has been mentioned now, so I just want to remind you that Xian can build fury in 3 kills consistently. Jump + kick a zombie and aim for the head - it always counts as a crit kill if they are on the ground.

As for the comment about health being hard to find: are we playing the same game?

Thank you guys but it makes it even harder, so i decide to play both characters to end up with this mess. And about the stamina with Sam B, with the right weapons (like the baseballbat) stamina is more than enough, even for big fights. The only stamina challenge are bosses i think. But yeah i like Xian Meis playstyle more that Sam Bs, but she is soooooo boring personality wise.

The main question is more about singleplayer and fun play, not competive coop or such thing.

Yeah you have *enough* stamina with Sam B. Of course. But with Xian, you have enough stamina to do all kinds of acrobatics while fighting and sprint almost constantly. You can also stomp without spending stamina. Sam B will inevitable be slower. You'll know the difference once you've tried both at high levels (which I have).

On top of that, Xian gets fury so easily it's almost cheating and does ridiculous damage with sharp weapons.

But no, I don't have anything against Sam B. He was my first character.

For the record, you could do that in the original as well. However, I agree that firearms seem better this time around. Too bad you don't get the good stuff until halway through the game...

Xian is good for stamina and sharp weaapons but Sam B is great for blunt weapons , id reccommend Xian though
