So I went to Henry and stored my weapons, then quit and reloaded the game. This started me on the boat, and I could just go and collect my stuff again.
In any case, the game did nothing to the items that don't count toward your inventory size, such as crafting mats.
Point is, someone didn't test their game properly, but if you start on the beach like me, you haven't lost everything yet.
we've played aound 3.5 hours and we're in the last area now, we should slow up a bit now and get some proper levelling done
You can get around it by putting stuff you don't want to lose in storage, that way it should still be there when you start NG+.
And just for peace of mind for anyone else reading this - when you are prompted that it is the point of no return - there is no more fighting, so you really don't need any of your kit. It's not like the original game where you left for the prison and still had a whole Act of the game to complete.
