I have a level 50 Xian Mei and I have an extremely lethal blade build with her. Will all my gear and stats carry over in this game? This one factor might possibly sway me to purchase this game.

No, nothing carries over from the first version. There's plenty of evil toys in this version.

What? Yes it does. All your stats and upgrades carry over. Your weapons don't, but there are plenty of new ones to keep you entertained. Rest assured, though, you can use your level 50 character on this game with all her upgrades.

They DID raise the cap! It used to be Level 50, it's now Level 70. When the new number is higher than the old number, that's called "raising" it.

The original level cap for Dead Island was 50, it was later raised to 60 in a patch - didn't require buying any of the DLC.

Your character will import to Riptide with the same amount of XP and the same skill selections on the skill tree. There are a few bonus skills added, but also a few extra levels to earn points to pick them if you want.

XP is MUCH easier to earn in this game, so if you start at 50 and enjoy exploring and doing side quests, expect to hit 70 long before you finish the main story.
