It depends on how you play. I'm at 16% and 7 hours into the game.

The game is on a different island so the missions and areas are different although some locales look like the ones from the first game.

It's very similar. Think of it as an expansion instead of a sequel. They changed a little around, but not much to notice (well for me anyway). I've put 10 hours into so far and I haven't left the first section of the island. Mainly because I'm checking every corner for collectables. Watch the review on gametrailers. It's the most accurate in my opinion.

It took me about 23 hours to beat the game with pretty full exploration. I would say it is abit more than expansion, but not a full sequel. I think it is worth the 40 bucks if you liked the first, but once it gets down to 30 or even 20, it'll be easily worth the price.

yeah that sounds pretty to me ;)
I did a speed run to the best of my ability as soon as the game was released, and beat the campaign in 6 hours by run and gunning as Purma.

If you want a comparison between this game's length and the original Dead Island's length, this game is very short.

If you really love Dead Island, buy it.

If not, wait till it comes down to 20 bucks.

That's honestly what it seems like to me, a $20 DLC pack.

I could beat the first game in sub 4 hours. I have yet to attempt this one because I'm trying to find every hidden item first.

Under 4 hours to beat Dead Island? Come back down to earth.
