What the HELL was that ending?

I am a sucker for good story-telling in games,but this ending (admitedly more than it should) has gotten me REALLY pissed off! The last boss I almost killed without the mutagens but NOOOO we HAVE too take them! And for what? A cutscene where your character gives Serpo the finger then DIES!? Not only that,but when you die,you create a WHOLE new apocolypse.♥♥♥♥.This feels almost as bad as Mass Effect 3.Anyone else a bit angry,or if not,why?

Not really mad. It leaves the game open to more sequels, or rather, hopefully so. I dont really care for all the complaints so much, because honestly, i love the franchise. The story has never really been a strong point to begin with. DI1s ending was just as bad.

Im a little bit gutted about it but it doesnt DIRECTLY show that they are zombies they could be but we dont know. I was very pissed off that you couldnt go with serpo because thats what i wanted to do.

I was a little upset at the end myself, but same time it leaves the game open to anything. We didnt see if they turned or not. Hell for all we know the end could be the start to the trailer with the girl and guy in the RV. i mena it could be like (spoilers) Dead space 3 when we all thought Isaac died. For all we know they could be working on a DLC already or something. Eather way i love dead island and i feel that everything about it can get even better if work is put into it.

Yea i get you i dont really think they are infected since i havnt seen anykind of zombie in both games that could do anything close to opening a door let alone a latch on a boat

the ending is no ending, as far as we can see they all died and turned, but its a new island and a new beginning, so i'm thinking dead island 2, riptide being dead island 1.5, a continuation of the existing story, that one i'm thinking will be a whole new story and whole new characters.

dead island 2 i estimate will be released sometime December 2014!

It's not remotely as bad as Mass Effect 3, that is pretty ridiculous. It's just a straightforward ending. I would've liked the option of maybe being able to save the people they showed that were gonna die before I got the boat, I certainly wouldn't have gone with Serpo, the guy screwed them over twice before that. I would've also liked the option to maybe being able to kill Harlow without taking the mutagen, but it doesn't bug me too much, this game isn't really about choices, never was. Overall not bad and the story was at least better than the first, but a shame they didn't have a good character like they did with Jin in the first. Thought maybe Harlow was going to be that, but didn't turn out that way.

the ending is a bit meh, but it hopefully clears the slate for new characters in the third installment. the current 5 know too much about what's going on.

as do i, half the fun in games like this is quessing what caused it all.

however i think this ending leaves things open for dlc rather than sequels. we have too many loose ends such as what happened at the military base?, where is charon? the first secret file clearly implicates charon and serpo in league for different reasons so what's he upto? there would have to be a dlc akin to ryder white for what harlow was doing parallel to the hero's. there is an alternate campaign here for the badguys

is it really going to be called dead world? dead earth or dead planet sound much better.

That there is where this game could have really made me happy,if there was a choice.For those who hold a grudge,♥♥♥♥♥♥ ending,for those who want to survive,lovely ending.See? I am with you all the way on that one

Hey guys,for each of these comments people state that this is a great cliff-hanger for a sequal or DLC but isn't the developers to make a game at least a little rewarding for all the work you put into it? I payed 40$ for this game and (though that isn't full price) I just wish that the ending wasn't purely to cash in on future campaign DLC

I agree completely.
I don't see any reason completing this game now.
What's the use? Just to be suckered into another sequel?
I don't mind new games being based on old ones. Like Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
They actually have endings as a goal.
Endless sequels totally suck.
Anything for a buck, I suppose.

Oh man the ending didn't suck too bad but the game ended pretty quickly...I thought I would be able to go back into the game after the end to finish collectables, I guess if I start new game I will have to collect everything again? I know there was a warning before getting in the boat but damn, I thought it would put me back before taking the quest or something.

Technically you don't completely restart,you are given all your weapons to use so this time around it may be a tad more fun obtaining the collectables you already collected.

Yeah that's cool, but I mean I thought the collectables would carry too on that character
