Riptide - Import and Skillreset...?
I read many about riptide and some about the reset of skills if you import and dead island character and i want to confirm that. If anybody know more about that please tell me, it would really help to not conflict with the new skills that coming and 1-2 false setted points.

Thanks

If you import a Dead Island savegame, your level and skills carry over. Any leftover skill points will also carry over.

If you start fresh, you start at level 14 and you can choose to select from a set of skills, or assign skill points yourself.

when you import does it also bring over the items (blueprints, weapons, craft items) over? im curious

It's cool that you can import your character but why can't you start a fresh character from level 1?

No it does not bring weapons over

@fuzz I believe the idea at not starting at lev 1 is that this game is supposed to take place immediately following the previous game so they wanted to kinda start you already in the mix as opposed to easing you into it with a new character from scratch.

I understand that but if you'd never played Dead Island before and you bought Riptide, it would be kind of lame starting at level 15. If you start level 15, wouldn't that mean you lose 15 levels of gametime as well?

Nope, that is why the level cap is now 70 :)

And the later levels should take you a bit longer to reach. No weapon importing, but you'll find out why during the story prologue that explains how you get from escaping Banoi to this new island.

Hmm thats not good if this is really official then its really bad, with new skills the whole thought about the skills changes and start to conflict. If every tree gets new skills you must start a new game because the thought of thats the best way to skill is ok for dead island but with riptide it changes all.

Yeah yeah 10 new points but this doesnt change anything too a thought of the best way to skill begins from the first skill to the last and not at the and of the tree. If there is really no reset after character import its the best way to start a new game without import, it ruins the skill of your riptide character.

I mean there is no need for a reset function only an reset that comes with the use of import where enough. I bet that most of the riptide players that have a character in dead island start a new game when they recognize that they cant change the dead island skills and there are many new interesting skills. Im sure you dont add only one skill per skill tree so 10 points arent enough to fix this conflict.

Really sad i really think about to stop play my dead island chars because they are useless now, and that thing that you cant test your skills because of the lack of no reset function is really sad too.

Wait for a response to that please, thanks.

Ps: I see that you play guild wars 2, if there where not enough points to unlock all points what would you say if you cant reset your skills and maked a mistake ? or if there comes a new addon with new skills but no way what does conflict with your old, what do you ? start again from 1 to 80 ? (yes i know gw2 has no reset option but you can unlock all skills).

Ahhh never mind im not an really oldshool rpg guy but in my opinion an rpg that uses skills must have an reset function for that or not ? Do you really want to search for skill guides and watch movies for every single skill and how it works ? Thats a game and if you are not to young so you want to try out things, test your skills and how they work and change it if you dont like it or if they dont match your playstyle. And really important to not get vanished to start over again and again and again.

There is no way arround that if you add a new game with the same characters and skills from the last game. No one in this world (except the devs) knows how it feels between the old and the new skills and if you like to change any thing. If you dont like it in riptide you must start again and again and so far.........

Btw: thanks for the informations

So there is an option to transfer your already leveled character from DI to DIR. I hope the feature to do this is easy and I don't have to download add ons to import my game.

Calm down about the skill reset mate!

If you need to respec your character, just download a save editor!

I like the idea of importing my character. And the option to start new.

Why calm down do you see any feelings here ? i dont. I give up a statement about that theme and what i say is right. Lets say you cant use any editor because you get banned, what you else can do ? nothing, if a game use skill elements and get a sequel with more skills, it causing most of the time conflicts between the old and the new skills. The only chance to stop conflicts is a reset function or editor thing.

We have the luck that we can use mods or editors for Dead Island and not get banned hopefully.
