I'm pretty sure your graphics are 348 mb and your going to need at least 512 for it to work ok and 1 gb for it work good with no studering. You really need a decent aftermarket card and these days you can pick up a used one off E-Bay for like $60.
P.S. the game doesn't like NVIDIA cards because of the SSOA shader but the program Dead Island Helper can be used to turn it off. I used it and my NVIDIA 7950GT works just fine.

Intel HD Graphics chipsets usually share base system RAM, so for it to show 1700 MB it might be taking some of your main 4GB and using that as VRAM. Do you have the first dead island? That will give you an idea as Riptide should be based on the same engine.

Jeeeesuuuus.. that's an old gpu. You're better off buying this for consoles, it'll actually look better for you and run better on a console.

Well since its off the Exact same engine as the Original Dead Island. And my i7-3.5ghz 8gigram Gtx260 ran it well on all low settings. I was assuming he could not run it well on a much older setup. But who knows./Shrug
