[SOLVED] Dead Island Riptide HAS STOPPED WORKING at launch

It opens for about 2 seconds and then it crashes saying it stopped working, I have tried Runing as administrator, running nologos, i have tried reinstalling directx and all the other things in the reddist folder, reinstalling the game, restarting computer, updating drivers including graphics card, tried running in compatibilty mode.

and iv'e been hours online trying to find a solution and haven't found one yet so plz if anyone could help me id apreciate it

Ok fixed it. What you need to do is verify integrity of game catche, When i did it steam found 3 broken files and re-downloaded them. After that it works well.

This is just a copy of some solutions that have worked for other people to various problems:


Do these one at a time in order:

1. Make sure the game is installed in the default steam location on the c: drive.

2. Update video drivers.

3. Shut down Steam, restart it running as administrator, start the game. You should only have to do it this way once.

4. If that fails, verify the files (In steam, go to library, right click on Dead Island Riptide, Select local files, the push the Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.)

5. If still having problems, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\diriptide\Redist. Then, run the exe files in the three subdirectories, running as an administrator. (WMFDist11-WindowsXP-X86-ENU.exe, vcredist_x86.exe, DXSETUP.exe)

6. If still having issues and running Windows 7, try this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=19289

7. If running Windows 8, it is not supported, but works for many people after installing this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/windows-media-player-12

Verifying Cache Integrity solved it for me. 4 files re-downloaded.

If you got a few downloaded, try verifying it again... maybe it didn't detect them all.

Yeah same problem, tried many solutions. I have all my games on a 4TB drive and only run the OS and apps from my SSD, still doesn't work when people install on the sytem drive anyway, but that's unacceptable for me since most of my other games work fine (newer games with max settings even).

Is you're windows installed on your 4tb drive or on the SSD ? becaus if so, Dead island dosn't like to run from a alternate Drive.

This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. For my Steam Games i have a different drive, and i wont install this game on my C: drive..... Verifying Cache also didnt helped me out....
