On the other hand, I went into Bioshock Infinite thinking it was going to be amazing and was completely underwelmed.
I too would like to know what ever happened to those survivors who we last see alive. ...
Maybe we will get an answer if the ending of Riptide left the story open like I think it did.
I'm not saying you're wrong at all - it was just relative for me all things considered.
2) The mutation story was definitely cheap and frustrating - And the stories in both games were unmemorable. But let's face it - There's only so much you can do with a 'zombie apocalypse' setting, so nobody should really worry too much about story. Sure, it was silly and predictable but it's more about rounding up the characters rather than tying loose ends. If Sam B (as shown in multiple media) is appearing in Epidemic, which takes place after DI1 (and not before Riptide) then it may be safe to assume everyone survived.
3) Yerema is the source of the infection - So the devs either kept her out of it simply to further the story in future games, or they opted out of fleshing out her and Kevin's stories for other production based reasons. Ultimately, considering she appeared pretty much 3/4 of the way through the plot/story of DI1, I don't much care what they do regarding her, or the tribe. The infection will go way beyond the woes of the 'source' by the time DI2 is out and I doubt it'll be revisited now that three (or more) cities/locations in the world are teeming with zombies.
This one is supposed to shed some light on the origin of the outbreak.

Then about Dead Island we were certain that they were immune immune to the virus, instead of Dead Island Riptide it turns out that the immune are not immune to the virus but they slow the virus, for example, if a non-immune bitten the virus will mutate in 30 minutes, instead the immune will change in 3 days (again an example).
However, if you listened to the speech of Dr. Kessler says that if the immune are exposed for too long in the Radiation (Level Tunnel Chinese), the mutation is speeded up.
But when fighting Harlow, survivors must necessarily inject mutagenic to beat Harlow, but they inject the virus in their body is sped up greatly and so when they escape by boat, Purna says "I have a headache ... ..però i'm fine "means that the virus is mutating and then Purna (I think the weakest or the one closest to the zombie mutation) kills all non-immune in the boat, and then the epilogue the girl comes over and opens the door and you can hear the verses of zombie survivors. (Purna, John, Sam B, Xian & Logan)
Hopefully Dead Island 2 will be a better game. I really liked the first one, but Riptide was just garbage. :(
I see Dead Island 2 Gameplay and honestly lost what little "Horror" has become such a "zombie parody," I hope I'm wrong because seeing that gameplay has not convinced me right and I'm a fan of the saga, but I prefer the predecessors.
