I did not perceive him like this at all. He did not seem antagonising to me. He was warning the MC, he showed some doubts but never in a way 'you suck' but more in a way 'I know what will come and while I'd love you to win I don't see how you could win' and when he does join to MC at school as a 'human' he's just trying to enjoy and understand what life is and isn't in any way trying to seduce the girls on purpose. The MC is way more 'womanising piece of garbage' than Ryoji ever could be.
Considering one of the main themes of the whole game is to learn to live with death waiting for us at the end, I do not think he was meant to be in any way antagonistic or annoying and this is the first time I'm hearing about it.
