Boycott the game due to that one unprofessional and preachy translator

There is a translator for the P3 remake who might ruin the translation for the game, by injecting her political views into the dialogue instead of actually translating the game. I heard she did that for some subbed anime translations. Better yet Let Atlus and Sega know that all of you want the translation to be accurate to the original source material and have it re-localized.

is there any proof that they "interject" their political views in a translation and i want to see evidence of this

Don't matter the translations of anime can apply to games as well. However from the trailers that we got I didn't see any discrepancies in the text.

Saying that it is only done to an anime is not a good defense. Because it means it can be done to other things too.

I can at least read Japanese so I understand that translation is never going to be 1:1, especially an emotional and high-contextual language like Japanese, but you can't freely interpret someone's work like this. At best, we're culture-washing and ignoring the problems that Katrina might be trying to resolve. I'm down for cultural shifts, but not like this.

There are already communities that are willing to 'clean the game' for a more sensitive audience in the same sense that there are communities willing to do the opposite.[gamebanana.com] She's getting paid to do a job, she should do it without injecting her politics unless it was requested by the author. I'm not seeing that thus far unless someone has a source they can share.

I also didn't see any discrepancies in the text as well in the trailers that we have gotten so far. Also very well said. I agree 100%.

As OP said people should boycott the game and refuse to buy anything that's been altered. Atlus has a history of this kind of thing stretching back several years. We don't know if anything has been altered though so far through the release trailers that we have gotten so far there hasn't been anything out of the ordinary as far as the English text goes. Sure it's been proven that the person behind the English translation of this game and other Atlus games did some weird stuff with the translations of some Anime shows.

Tae Kim's Guide to Japanese Grammar is a fantastic resource to start with. Pair it with Jsho app (great dictionary) and Todai Easy Japanese for reading (bit ad-heavy now but it organizes news articles by difficulty, has annotated characters for learning, tons of options... Duolingo has come a loooooooong way from when they started the Japanese course if you prefer ez access simplicity.

Just 15 minutes a day... Heck, just 2 minutes if that's all you can supply and you'll learn it in no time. The effort is what matters, even if it's a smidge! Eventually you can move into some entertainment you enjoy. I started on Pokemon since it's styled for children and I'm fairly smooth brained. It was a nice route for exposure and to replay something I love :)

I started my journey to play Fortune Street since the FF X DQ on the PS4 never got translated and the wii one with Mario got me addicted... It's worth the plunge! And the language is quirky enough to enjoy the journey, I think. :)

I had asked my Japanese teachers about Jisho and they replied that it is not good if you want to learn correct Japanese. It has many inaccuracies, probably added by foreigners.

This all being said, Jisho is not a primary source of vocabulary, it's a dictionary to supplement your learning. Because kanji is contextual, you should have a decent idea by reading around your source's subject if the definition needs more scrutiny. And you can always check with a foreigner / teacher to help solidify truth. :)

That was the issue, that Jisho as a dictionary has many cases of serious language mistakes and inaccuracies that no native Japanese people use.

They told us basically that good and accurate dictionaries are limited inside Japan and unfortunately they are commercial and require to buy a license.
