Persona 3 Reload

Persona 3 Reload

Great Game (Opinion Revised)
** EDIT ** Below is my initial reaction to the game. My opinion has since changed. Though I still think the power jump between regular battles and boss battles is a little extreme. However, manageable. TLDR below, probably my favorite game of all time. It has everything.

Short and to the point. The monorail sequence is stupidly overpowered compared to the rest of the game up to that point. Nothing you do before this battle even comes close to preparing you for it. And the worst part is, to reload the game and get back to the point where you're battling her again, even with FFWD, it's 15 minutes. Then it's 5 minutes before she finally kills you. At that point, I put the game away for the rest of the day as there's no point. I really wanted to love this game, and I did. But this is ridiculous. And before you even go there, I have tried everything including focusing on healing over attack. But it doesn't matter when she brings you from 150 points down to 25 with one attack. My last playthrough, even after just healing all characters, she killed all 3 with one shot.

I've been playing adventure games since before most of the people here were born, having grown up with the Atari 2600. But I have never in my life run into something with such a horrible curve. Difficulty shouldn't go from a 2 to a 10 just like that. I should build gradually.

Oh well, I guess I won't be spending as much time with this game as I thought.

Very poor design. Very poor.

Why Priestess can be hard? You playing on merciless? I was playing on hard and not that she's hard or something.

Guard is your friend, also it's pretty normal first boss is hard for every Atlus game, since we have limited option in the beginning of the game

Yeah I was planning to do this on the highest difficulty but save points in Persona games are way too unreliable for this, sometimes you're gonna lose 20mn for absolutely zero reason after being one shot by a boss

Something tells me you have never touched the fusion system.
Id like to introduce to you a persona named Valkyrie.

Fusable at level 10
Resists ice
Learns a multi target slash skill.

Can learn heal skills from fused personas.

Basically just one persona that gives you everything you could possibly need to beat priestess.
focus only on her just dont pay attention to the summons

this game is easy compared to p3fes and p3p so you just have skill issues

Great, but I don't think I've run into that one yet. Either that, or I haven't been leveling it up. I'll have to go check. But yeah, shame on me if this is just a stupid oversight on my part.

No, I haven't. Game is brand new for me and I'm not one to go to Youtube to watch videos on how to play things. I just dive in. Usually, that works. But there are a lot of parts to this system that obviously have gotten past me. Still, battles before her, piece of cake. Her battle, brutal. Games just shouldn't scale that way. Play Dragon Age Origins. The first boss battle is hard, but not 5 times harder than the last battle you just fought.

I do. I pretend they're not even there. The problem is, with each hit, they're doing around 50 points to each character. That's a lot to overcome.

That may be. After all, I'm only playing this game a total of 10 hours. Every game takes some time to get the hang of. My issue is with how the game scales. Boss battles shouldn't be 5 times more difficult than the hardest battle you've had before it.

It's not so bad, but also hard to diagnose your issue. Fusion is boring but important, especially later when you get one shot killed. You might not be using guard right or you may not have levelled your party enough.

I'm not sure ignoring the summons is correct as you can hit their weaknesses times two, then she will use an attack summoning them back.

You can grind through pretty much anything in the game with enough patience. It's not as difficult as an especially awful p5 boss, thankfully. You can do it!

And that, is your problem right there. The system is set up so you can use better personas. You will never finish the game if you don't learn to utilize it.

I'm not sure what you mean by better. I'm using my highest level persona which is currently at level 13. Why would I use a persona that is at a much lower level?
