Mine has always been and will always be the Priestess, for one simple reason: Makoto Niijima.
I live and die for her—a sublime character with, in my opinion, the most incredible design in Persona 5. I love her and everything about her.
The Priestess Arcana became my absolute favorite because of her. Before Persona 5, I was torn between the Empress, thanks to Margaret from Persona 4 (who I think is the best character in the game), and the Sun Arcana because of Tatsuya from Persona 2. But back then, liking the protagonist's Arcana felt too mainstream, so I’d always say it was the Empress instead.
Alright, guess someone loves makoto a little bit too much , but I understand that, I've already been there...
Good to know that i'm not the only one who actually likes the arcanas for the character though
But if choose i think it's Chariot because i love Chie and Ryuji. They're the best.
I also like the Sun Arcana, but it is for Akinari from P3. I would like the Priestess more because I also love Makoto from P5, but, as someone that have fighted the same lack of self confidence until surpass them, I can't like Fu uka because noone likes to see a mirror of their past. Besides, her pessimism is anoying.
Still, my prefered is the Empress, because all of them are very charismatic characters.
I used to think the same, but over time I realized that you can start liking an Arcana a lot when you really love a character tied to it. It sort of shines a different light on the Arcana itself. It’s hard to explain, but that’s how it feels to me .
For example, when I started Persona 3, I already wanted to develop my bond with Yukari because I had loved Lisa from Persona 2. It felt like a natural progression—maybe because I was younger at the time, but my logic was simple: "If I liked a character from this Arcana in the previous game, I’ll probably like the one in this game too." And well, I did...
The same thing happened with Rise in Persona 4 and Ann in Persona 5. Ann
And yes, Chie is amazing, and Ryuji
Hell yeah! P4G gives a whole new meaning to the Judgment Arcana—it just hits different. Also, Sae is great too, one of the best in P5R, her castle is insane, her development is great too, great choice.
The Empress Arcana truly has some amazing characters. I just feel like I couldn’t develop a strong connection to Mitsuru’s story, and Haru didn’t leave a lasting impression on me in P5, so it ended up taking a bit of a backseat for me.
But I totally agree, Fu uka’s extreme pessimism can be really irritating, especially for people who’ve gone through similar struggles. I completely understand where you’re coming from—it’s tough to see a reflection of yourself in that way. I’m still working on overcoming my own self-esteem issues, so I can relate to her struggles and even sympathize with her character, but I also get how hard it can be to connect with her.
And congrats on overcoming your challenges ! That’s no small feat.
Hella cool of a Design for the card too, P4G with Naoki's social link and P5R with Iwai's made that one a special to me too, top 5 for sure, nice choice
p4: hierophant
p5: hanged man
Yuko is an really great character, one of the best in P3
