Still trying to understand Persona Fusion
hi. I haven't played P3R long, but I have about 4 personas and not sure about the fusion. If I register the personas then fuse them, do I still have access to the original unfused personas or are they gone?

I'm unsure of the timing. It seems that you would do best to wait to fuse until you've maxed out the social connection. Can you refuse the individual personas again or is it a one time deal?

if you register personas to the compendium you can summon they later but that costs money. you should be constantly fusing personas to create stronger ones it's not a good idea to get too attached to a persona for too long.

When you register personas, the persona you summon will be whatever it has at the time you last registered it. Once you fuse them off, you can summon the registered persona at whatever level and skills it had when you registered it so if you registered a level 99 Orpheus, that is what you can summon from the compendium.

Typically you want to fuse personas if you can make a stronger one or wait until you leveled the persona a bit so that it has unlocked all its abilities and/or unlockable item which you get after leveling up some personas to a certain point.

Long story short: you can purchase a registered persona from the velvet room. The perfect time to fuse is when you have all skills unlocked (to increase amount of skills to inherit) or when a fuseable persona is useful/more powerful than your current ones (unlocking a fire skill for a boss weak to fire, better skills/stats, etc). Any other time is dependent of social links you can work on at that time (as matching personas gives more points to a links bond).

As for the first point, that does mean you can raise a persona from lvl 1 all the way to max lvl if you really truly desire it and register it so you can use it on future ng+ modes.

Recurring Persona patterns

1. Fuse as much as you can.
2. Each level generally will unlock one or several new persona for you to find or merge.
3. Nice shoes.
4. There are usually quests associated with merging a specific persona with x or y special abilities. Keep note of the merge patterns and which persona has what ability as you create your abomination for relationship points.
5. There are usually new ways to merge unlocked as you progress in the game.

When you register personas in the Velvet room, the Personas will save as whatever they were at the time of registry. The best take away you want to have is to always save before entering the Velvet room and registering your Personas to Compendium each time as well so you can repurchase them later for future fusions. While there are certain fusions you can only make after maxing out a social link it's in your best interest to fuse as much as possible - not only for strength related purposes, but because the more complete your Persona registry is the easier for you it will be (it can facilitate in fusing those maxed out social link Personas since they often require other fusions).

Memorizing the personas you get from shuffle time in the tower of Tartarus will be handy cause in the late game you do not want to overspend rebuying personas.

Maxing the social links is also key because at rank 10 a matching persona can get a 5 level jump upon fusion.
