Id change the gameplay to merciless if your not on it already. Difficulty doesnt affect achievements or anything and once your on mericiless your essentially locked in as if you change from merciless you cant go back.
if you are wanting an exact bit as to when persona 3 starts getting really good, once all the party members are added and your past october thats when things really excelate plot wise in a unique way especially in comparison to e.g p4 or p5.
