Sudden performance drop overnight?
Started having issues with low framerates in tartarus and during battle suddenly today. I made it all the way to 9/2 and it was all buttery smooth. So beautiful it brought a tear to my eye.

Only changes today are my video card (RX6800 XT) did have a driver update, which I rolled back to no effect. I also have 3 more SEES members than my last venture into tartarus with Koro, Ken, and Shinji all joining in quick succession. Probably not related but who knows.

Anyone else experience similar issues?

Was there anything updated with windows update or anything like that? Also was there anything you were running today that you weren't since the game released a couple weeks ago?

Try turning off everything non esssential and then run the game to see if that problem goes away. If it does do away then it is likely to be some sore of conflict. You can narrow it down from there.

There doesn't seem to have been any update to windows or anything else as far as I can tell. When I had good performance I would have like 30 firefox tabs, discord, and openoffice calc all running. I tried rebooting and just running the game only and it didn't seem to make a difference. Baffling.

YES, I am in the SAME BOAT. It was running near-flawlessly for my first 12 hours of play, I did a big tartarus session in Arqa, came back a week later and now it's running like absolute trash. Almost a second of delay on the camera controls, insane frame drops, laggy movement-- it only seems to abate in the menu. Seems to get even worse around the teleporters...? There WAS a pair of Windows Updates that rolled out around the 13th that I installed on the 18th that I thought might be the culprit, but to my untrained eye neither looks like it should have made a difference. Mystifying and infuriating

Well the issues have resolved for me. I had tried rebooting my PC several times in the troubleshooting process but I suspect it was not actually shutting down. Long ago I disabled "fast startup" for windows and verified it was still disabled, but I suspect it's still doing it when I choose to restart via the start menu button. I shut it down and flipped my power supply switch and left it that way before going to work. Came back to it at the end of the day, booted it up, and it was fine. For the past few days I have been back to leaving all of my unnecessary things open while playing the game and it's smooth! So perhaps the issue was because I updated my driver I needed a proper reboot and it's possible that wasn't actually happening. Or maybe it's just a coincidence, who knows.

yeah I just opened up my save that i havent played in 2 weeks today and for some reason there's this camera delay/lag that I swear I didn't encounter for the first 45 hours

It started happening again, and again it is immediately after I update my gpu driver. Which was a very silly thing for me to do when I'm already in December and will be finishing the game soon anyway. Repeated the same steps as before and that did not resolve the issue.

I am learning about shader cache stuttering and I think maybe that is what is happening here, though I don't recall having the issues when I first started the game. Only the two times after updating the driver.

EDIT:
After playing in Tartarus for a while things started to smooth out. Went to a different block, stuttering again, all smooth again after just pushing through it for awhile.
