Thank you, Atlus
Look, I get there's a lot of pressure to conform to American standards right now. I just started FF7: Rebirth, and all the out-of-place trendy internet slang & mixed demographics are incredibly jarring. I am so thankful a masterpiece like this had such minimal changes. Subjectively, I think a lot of aspects in the older versions were better, but the changes were at least done with care and could be seen as growing on a person.

Other Japanese properties are making me legitimately angry with how much they're sucking up to America's entertainment sphere. I thought the change to Royal was bad (the situation was relatable in the ORIGINAL Persona 5), but in retrospect, it's so much less malicious than all the background & new property changes publishers are pressuring studios into.

Persona games take place in Japan. It makes sense to see pretty much only Japanese people. FF7 and all the other ones take place in fictional worlds so complaining about having to see brown people or as you put it "mixed demographics" is just exposing your own racism.

It draws focus and detracts from more artful details. I know you might not understand this since you clearly prioritize social semantics, but there's a finite amount of detail someone can process, and a finite amount of work that can be put into a product. This means superficial things like including a bunch of real-world ethnicities just so internet mobs don't cry at you is literally making your game worse. They're detracting from meaningful choices to expand the world and alienating people who like Japan.

What do you not understand about the FF games not being set in Japan? They take place in fictional worlds where our real world ethnicities do not exists in the same way they do in the real world. Complaining because a brown person talked to you in a video game like that says a lot about you

You mean wanting a Japanese product to be Japanese is weird? Thinking that having a dystopian society in which people are "taking L's" with giant 1920 cameras but Hollister clothing is jarring? The cultures of the worlds being created aren't consistent, because it's called pandering. It's trend chasing, nothing is venerated.

By your ridiculous logic Sucker Punch could not have made Ghosts of Tsushima because they are American so their product must also be american. Pretty dumb to tell a Japanese dev their product must be set in a Japanese world instead of a fantasy world of their own creation because they are Japanese.

They respected the culture they were trying to represent. Final Fantasy no longer is respected by Square Enix, because they no longer respect Japan. They are very open about wanting an international audience. Guess what? I don't like design by committee.

You don't like brown people you mean. But your right a game called Final FANTASY with you riding giant yellow birds should be steeped in realistic Japanese culture. It makes sense for Persona or Yakuza/Like a Dragon because those take place in locations meant to mimic real life Japan. But yes Final FANTASY must have no brown people and be true to Japan but talking cat people is just like real Japan( Do not bring up Morgana from P5 because there is an explanation for why he can be understood by some people)

Man I really wonder what actual japanese people think seeing some of these weird ass americans obsess over their country and culture.

Imagine forcing a japanese studio to only portray a japanese setting or culture. And using FF as an example makes absolutely no sense either lol, every FF game takes place in a fictional setting, it's not real. You could've just used LAD: Infinite wealth since it's set in Hawaii, but even then it would be an absolute delusional take at best.

Don't get me started on LAD's NPC crowds, lol.

Didn't buy Infinite Wealth because of the red flags from Lost Judgement & Gaiden. Great games, but I wasn't impressed by LAD7 & saw the changes being made to the series direction over time.

So even if a game takes place in America, because Hawaii is apart of America, you do not want to see any brown people. There is no doubt about your racism at least
