But tbh since P3R got a new modern update I would recommend you play P4G instead. Because the combat in P4G is more slower, still very decent though, so I don't think you will enjoy the combat if you get used the new combat in P3R and P5R.
as for combat, it's good, still worse than P5R but P3R is much better than older P3 games
and yes i do agree better start from P4G, because you will "hate" P4G combat if you start from P3R, also P4G is a lot cheaper and no DLC bs
for story, P3R is really slow pacing story in the beginning perhaps up to october then the story will start to getting interesting, so you need prepare yourself so you don't fall asleep while this is not a problem in P4G or P5R
