You didn't though. You died without saying goodbye before they got there.

That ending was really rough and depressing. Which I guess is fine and to be expected but it hit me kind of hard. MC has so many plans with them and dies, with no closure. Having a dog makes it so much worse too.
It def hits hard. In the movies he actually stays awake and watches them arrive before closing his eyes, but the game wanted to keep that "Close your eyes" part, altho they luckily did keep the part where he dies with a smile on his face. Also you do get to say goodbye, canonically, Makoto remembers all the events on 3/4 when he sees Aigis, meaning that day you talk to all your social links and friends is him saying his goodbyes, aware that he is dying

He does not say goodbye, he literally makes plans and talks about the future.

What do you want him to say? "No, I am going to die soon I can't". All I said was, canonically at that point, he was very well aware that he was dying. They try their hardest to remind you of his health. Even if those final moments were filled with false promises, it doesn't change that those were his final goodbyes and the conclussion to their social links/link episodes.

And it makes the most sense doesn't it? If it was an ordinary school day, why on earth would he go out of his way to visit every bond he created? And the next morning when aigis comes, he already knew what they did on the 31st, so hes aware of his actions to become the seal

Whether he knew he was dying or not is irrelevant. You can't say goodbye without both parties understanding that it is goodbye, that's not what a goodbye is.

It absolutely is what? He is the only one who knows. He can't just tell them "goodbye, I am dying tomorrow". None of them would have believed him because they either didn't know what happened, or just don't remember yet. Context is absolutely relevant here. The only way for him to say his goodbyes and see them, is by acting like everything is normal.

And are you really bout to sit here and argue that in order to say goodbye, the other party has to be aware? It really doesn't matter, nothing changes the fact that he was well aware it was his final days alive. Again, there is a reason why on a "regular" school day, he went out of his way to meet every bond he created knowing he dies the next day, in a way to bid "farewell"

One thing that I think 5 did better was the macro vision of the story. In 5, the explanation for all supernatural things was that they were a product of the collective human unconsciousness leaking into the consciousness/real world.

I really don't like the club book explanation about how nyx is a alien. It doesn't make much sense and goes against what was been told in the game: if nyx is alien, she can be killed/defeated; she's not death itself, just a really powerful being.

I was expecting them to shut down this alien idea by justifying that nyx is the physical manifestation of the concept of death in the collective human unconsciousness, just like yaldabaoth is the physical manifestation of a human desire, but they just followed the original for better or worse.

Anyways, I just hope that 6's protag will be an actual person that you can sympathize with instead of a lobotomized mute dude like always.
