From what I remember about Answer there is no straight answer. It seems that MC soul is used as a seal, while his body lasted a while and it's not able to live anymore. In other games it says that Elizabeth trying to find the way how to release his soul from the seal, but I'm not sure how it would work with his body if it still exists
Thought in the end after obtaining Universe card Igor says something like this: "Nothing is outside the realm of possibility for you now", so who knows what Atlus can come to

he is the seal, so yea he fused with the seal, there's no way liz able to find a way to release MC from the great seal. Let's say if Liz able to pull MC out from the seal, then the seal might be broken and Nyx will come back once again and MC will decide to cast the great seal again.

im very devastated with the ending, but some said that the protagonist might be saved by Liz but it's still faaar and idk if Atlus gonna make any further discussion/game/ending about it

For now let's just think that he died because he's using his soul to be a seal for nyx so erebus wont reach it

It's never mentioned if his real body is in a state of unconsciousness. It could just be buried hence their intense reaction in the Answer.

Fatlus should start doing something sooner since this game takes place in 2009. Said character should be in their 30s the further they wait.

he is dead mostly, as mentioned before he is the seal, elizabeth is trying to find a way to free him and that's about it.

hes dead. Permanently

As far as I understand, Makoto's body is dead and buried. His soul has become the Great Seal, but given Elizabeth's quest to free him, it's apparent that his soul hasn't been used up like some kind of fuel. Given that he's petrified in form, it's unknown if he's aware or conscious. It could very well be like Johnny Got His Gun, and he's horrifically aware and trapped in his own mind. Could be he's just asleep in there. If only Atlus gave a ♥♥♥♥ about loose threads.

Dead, if FES is DLC then it will show that.
i wish they have do more like FF7 remark and revamp it to a new story line.
For me, i really think FES is worst, they should have just leave this ending and end it, not make everyone seems forgot him and continue...

Headcanon - MCs body is with the Kirijo Group waiting to be resurrected.

is dead and already buried. His funeral happened before the answer.

Lots of Vague stuff... For me I'm hoping for dev to bring this boi back in the future. And the chance is not zero, I mean he got a messiah as persona, and universe arcana. My headcanon is his real body is in the seal, and the one in graduation day is his shadow he created using the universe arcana.

It's been years since he took that door duty, give the mc to retire from that sh*t.

The message and theme of the game is all about the fragility and inevitability of death, along with what you can do to make the most of the time you have long or short. The point and message behind MC's final actions is that, in the end, he got to choose the way he left the world. I think it's really beautiful and bittersweet. This ending was heavy and made me just sit back and take everything in during and after the credits.

I never played FES before but from everything I read, it seems like it blurs and tampers with the weight of the ending with pretty bad writing. If they do add an epilogue, I hope it goes through more revision.
