Why does the dorm keep video recordings of everyones room?

It's mostly just embarrassing personal videos of the characters that are fun to watch. But what is the reason why they need to be recorded? Are they aware that they are being video recorded and that all of the rooms have cameras or just the main character?

At the start of the game they used the camera in the MC's room to see how he would respond to the dark hour and I imagine the other cameras in the other rooms were probably meant for the same reason. Why they kept them after they knew the occupant of the room had the potential, who knows. If they were aware they were being recorded I do not think you would have got to watch so many funny moments.
