And you know, the depiction of women in anime is the same, a bunch of boring unintereseting, poorly written losers. I used to complain about that but then I thought that maybe this was how they really were. Women don't need to be funny, likable or anything to be "wanted" like in men, they just need to sit around with nice ass and a nice face. I thought they just sat at home doing makeup, go to med school and talk about how they hate men. They only exist to prolong the human race. That's how I saw them...that's until I played persona 3 FES.
Yukari isn't a girl who's introduction is to drop down on her knees and suck your ♥♥♥♥ like Aigis, she's not a girl who's sprites are where she arches her back to flex her boobs with a smug look in her face like Mitsuru, her introduction is trying to kill you. That really got me curious...I've never seen a woman like that. Are they gonna make her into the evil waifu character who's a massive tsundere, I thought?
But then I saw her sprites...they're so mid, it was so...REFRESHING!!!! All women are just drawn with perfect proportions, bodies, eyes. The only things that matter are a woman's looks, and so I thought they were meant to be objectivied. I mean just look at real life, that's what all women in real life crave too, to be "perfect" with billion dollar plastic surgeries and makeup industries almost exclusively funded by just them. If they weren't perfect, they were failures and that's how I saw the girls in real life.
But Yukari...she was so average and flawed and ugly compared to all these plastic waifus around her, I was so preplexed. I've never really seen a girl in anime that wasn't perfect by default. They MADE her like this...this isn't like real life where women can't choose to be perfect, they made her THIS flawed...that's when I really got pulled into her character. I knew there was something special in her.
I couldn't objectivy her like I could everyone else, I had to see her for what she is and her personality was also really something to behold. She would get annoyed at Junpei but her character wasn't just "♥♥♥♥♥", it seemed like the type of banter that men would have with each other. That made me realize that isn't just a "bro" thing, but its a friend thing and sometimes women can be friends.
I loved seeing Yukari talk, just spending time with her. Not in an effort to romance her and have sex with her but because I genuinely saw her as my best friend and someone I loved as a person and who they were for their character and not just because they have a vagina.
that's why I was so mad when I saw yukari's redesign. It doesn't represent her. She's not the type of person who gets guys with her looks, its with her personality. I never thought I'd fall in love with someone for "personality", I just thought that was some stupid bluepill ♥♥♥♥ women would say as a lie but after Yukari, I really do see myself marrying someone for their personality. For who they are and not what they look like, I know that's where real happiness lies now and it's all because of Yukari form Persona 3. I know, she's not real, but the things she made me feel are.
