Needs a dificulty rebalance for Medium and Hard. It's too Easy
So, I get that easier difficulties were going to be added and some changes, like they did with, say, Shadow Yukiko on P4G were bound to happen since the PS2 era of Megaten was for many way too hard even on Easy. Accesibility changes were going to make things easier too, that's more than fine. But this is just too much. It makes it impossible to have fights that require strategy even on Hard Mode which is now arguably easier than PS2 FES Easy.
Party control was a gimme, removal of fatigue...eh, maybe. But they went so much further.
And they didnt stop at the theurgies, at the Shift, the garden, they even added the P4G Shuffle Time, they kept the skill cards from portable AND BUFFED THE COPY SYSTEM SINCE ITS NOW INSTANT! Jeez, louise. Just Party Control was enough.
Now even in Hard the game just isnt challenging.
Aside from the fact Theurgies are just insane, and should have never made it past playtesying, the introduction of the Shift/Baton Pass needed a whole rebalancing of the enemy roster and the combinations they appear on. Hitting weaknesses for a full sweep+AOA is insanely easy now, and when a fight requires you to work around that you can just Theurgy past their resistance. They need to rebalance the enemies to account for how easy you can aim for weaknesses since we have Baton Pass.
FWIW, It should have never been added to P3, I get P5 players would be annoyed they can swap to hit weaknesses but these enemies were not made with this in mind. Add to all that that the easier requests to earn things (and also im sure it gives more Incense cards than the original) and its just too much for the original enemies to handle. It's like you have to become a challenge runner to have any sort of stakes.
With normal being this easy i literally cannot imagine the point of the safety dificulty.
Im all for people who want to make things easier for themselves to have options, but the things that lower the dificulty this much should be confined to the easier dificulties, not embedded into the game design so that challenge is fundamentally hard to find.
Normal is a joke and Hard barely slows you down. I just want to play with a difficulty that mirrors normal on FES. And it's pretty much impossible.
Is there any way a Classic Mode can be introduced or a rebalance can be applied so the enemies can keep up with all the new tools the player has so I dont feel the enemy cannot stand a chance pretty much ever?

Merciless makes enemies do 1.7x damage while you only do .6x.

What would you like them to do? A character gets hit on their weakness the enemy gets another turn which could kill them. They could tweak AI to always target weakness or low HP characters but that's about it. Do you want to game over every battle?

I barely use shift and Theurgy just helps boss battles not take forever.
thats what it sounds like. actually it sounds more like they are having a bad case of nostalgia and actually want to feel the way they did when they first played persona 3

No, im on hard. I want it to be like at least normal of the og. Normal is even easier than ig easy, i checked to see
Also, it keeps helping me. I watched a video on the dorm computer and now my ambushes are more effective. I just keep randomly stumbling upon things that make the game easier than it alrady was for no reason. Aaaaaaargh
From what I'm getting, you have nostalgia and memories, and you aren't happy this version of the game isn't your first run of P3 all over again. Got to get over it friend. As I'm sure you can tell by now, you're the only one that seems to feel this strongly about it. It's not meant to be a super difficult game and never will be unless a fan mod is made to do just that.
You want a game where on hard mode you basically cant die or ever lose?

I think some of y'all are a little too acclimated to playing badly made games. Presented with something cohesively made with a lot of player customization possible in how you approach the experience, and it's just whine about the fact that the game didn't fling bs at you constantly. Or that every single encounter wasn't meticulously crafted to be the perfect puzzle of mechanics as if that's how any JRPG has ever functioned.

Just going to suggest anyone who thinks this game is googoo gaga easy maybe just don't play Persona games anymore because clearly they are no longer in sync with your game taste.

You can use FLiNGTRAiNER's Persona 3 Reload trainer and set the damage multiplier and defense multiplier values to a number lower than 1.0, decreasing the damage dealt and increasing the damage taken.

Due to how they work, game trainers tend to get flagged by a lot of antiviruses. That is normal. If you aren't sure if you want to download such programs, I think it's best to wait until there is a difficulty mod available, as I really can't see Atlus making any balance changes to Persona 3 Reload.

If you decide to get the trainer, download it from flingtrainer . com. And TRIPLE-CHECK the URL. There are a lot of fake FLiNGTRAiNER websites containing malware-infected files.

agreed game is too easy. I changed normal to hard and still too easy. Powerful enemies are meh also.

There are too many mechanics at our disposal.

Shift
Theurgy
Shuffle time with major arcana cards
Fuu.ka
Skill gems

I have loads of medicines barely use, i can one run clear to the next blockage. There is no situation i feel the need to use Theurgy or Fuu.ka abilities.

Game is amazing. But there is no challenge at this moment. I'm at level 68 blockage.

It basically forces you to All out attack to kill most things as otherwise your chars are doing a bit over half their normal damage, I am at the point my other party members are basically useless as they deal next to no damage on merciless. I got a Persona with Spirit Drain and Drain Ability. You can farm these from the 3 of sword card, Spirit drain costs 3 sp and drains 20 sp to heal yours, with drain ability this doubles. The problem comes when you can't hit a weakness or the enemy has none, with the entire party doing a bit over half their normal damage its just a slog to kill anything you can't hit a weakness on. It costs Aigis more Hp to use some of her skills than damage they actually do to things.

Been thinking of dropping difficulty to hard, as Merciless doesn't really feel hard, it just feels like a slog.

I dunno if you play MMO's but a fix for this is called "having a trinity".. In this game that basically means you have a buffer, a healer and a dps (preferably 2; one for magic and 1 for physical)..

When an enemy has no weaknesses it's great to have a persona that has stuff like Apt Pupil + Crit Boost + Crit Amp... Using something like an evasion/Accuracy buff those 3 combined means you'll strike criticals a LOT of the time.
When you can't hit a weakness is where status ailments come in... Freeze will negate any physical resistances or repels the enemy has when frozen, poison can make sure enemies WILL go down (eventually), Confuse can make them all but useless and charm on certain enemies can really help you deal with the others in their group.

I DO agree that merciless isn't so much harder as it is sloggish though.

tbf merciless was typically easier in p5r as well due to how the game works. In p5 at least you could essentially manipulate the mechanics and ez win with a chance of being instakilled lol.
No technicals here however. (why)
I'm hoping a future update allows for customizable difficulty settings, certain that was a thing in 4 and 5. Never understood why more games don't let you tweak difficulty like that, xenoblade 2 did it as well and it made the game so much more persona 4 teddie bearable
Merciless is not even challenging, i got to level 80 and its just sligtly more annoying
It needs a rebalance on the enemies and maybe a classic mode that removes shift and non aegis/pc theurgies
