Was Junpei changed?

Nah, Morgana just was way worse with nagging and "go to sleep, Joker!" in P5 than in P5R. There's pretty much no issues with Morgana in P5R, aside from the start of the game, when you are railroaded pretty hard.

I did play P5 on PS4 back when it got out and I remember people complaining a lot about that. But I never really tied that to the character myself. It was more of a gameplay thing. Atlus dev team was just using the character to convey you the limits they put there, so I never blamed the cat for it.

The P3 characters are far less chummy. They’re friends but in a much more realistic way.

In Arena/Ultimax, it's extended further, the entire P3 cast minus like 3 characters don't even hang out or talk much anymore, once their journey was over, they legit went their separate ways. Only Mitsuru, Akihiko and one more I wont mention cause he's a later party member interact, and only because they're all still in the business of shadow killing.

Hmmm…that is interesting. I never played that because fighting games aren’t really my thing and I didn’t really think it was a narrative expansion.

I loathe Junpei and have been paying close attention to how he's represented in this. So far, a combination of voice acting/direction, and some tweaks in his lines, have given him kind of a We Have Ryūji Sakamoto at Home vibe. He's still a lech with an inferiority complex, but he's fine now, I guess. He does go out of his way to apologize for his behavior around where I am in the story, and that puts him above Yōsuke automatically.

Yes, they changed junpei. not just junpei though, they changed everyone. in the original P3, all the characters were alot more standoffish and only collaborated because for personal reasons. it isn't until about a little more than halfway through the game that they actually start to feel like a friend group.

the reason for the change is that alot of new persona fans are use to the friend group dynamic and criticized P3's for having a very unwelcoming tone in the beginning which is a very uninformed opinion and was mostly said by people that never played P3 in the first place.

alot of the "worst" traits all the characters exhibited were toned down and certain things were added to the game to make them seem like they're more on friendly terms like the study group sessions.

I wouldn't say it ruins the game but its very obvious it was made for people that never played P3 and only played P5. if you want the true P3 experience story wise, FES is still the way to go honestly.

They were more like allies of convenience/co-workers than buddy-buddies, yeah.
