Constant crashes on Steamdeck
Game hasn’t been playable, farthest I’ve made it is like 30min in. Graphics on lowest possible settings. Using the latest proton hotfix and 3.5.14 preview. Sometimes get an Unreal 4 error screen, sometimes just goes black and system restarts. Sucks because P3 is my all time favorite game and was really looking forward to this one.

Well, it crashed on me again, though I did notice I derped and was playing the game in desktop mode because I accidentally opened big picture instead of returning to game mode. Power cycled, booted back into actual game mode, and will hope maybe I don't crash again. That said, the number of times I've crashed entering the shrine or shortly after interacting with something at the shrine is kind of absurd. Have crashed there more than anywhere else to the point where it I do get in, I speedrun whatever I'm there to do.

Glad I’m not the only one with these crashes on steam deck. I’m the same don’t want to feel rushed running around praying it doesn’t crash

For those having issues running the game - are you running in the stock Game Mode? If so; Have you tried running the game under Desktop Mode (like running it on Windows) and then switching back to Game Mode?
I've found doing that can get the game to behave after a power cycle (power off then on, or reboot).

thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately its still crashing after i tried it. at this point i’ll probably just have to play the game on PS5 instead

i never get crash when playing P3R on my steam deck LCD.
And they already fix the fps drop in a certain places like tartarus, your room, velvet room.

I just don't get why half of us crash like hell on Steam Deck and half don't. I've literally changed nothing about my Steam Deck. It's up to date. Have had no major issues with other games I've played. The storage isn't full or otherwise failing. Reinstalling the game and verifying files found and fixed nothing at all. Have tried every halfway reasonable in game settings tweak. It just inexplicably crashes completely at random, and only P3R does this.

Did you play palworld on the deck? Heard that some people get incredible unstable decks after playing that game.

Been using a lcd steam deck without any issues and not a single crash in 14h

0 crashes on my deck. Very odd. Not normal. Could be evidence of other issues with your decks like ssd or apu

No. Have zero interest in Palworld and haven't touched it. About the only slightly out there game I've played on my Deck is Assassin's Creed 2, and I'm about ready to question if Ubisoft's crappy software is causing some obtuse conflict.

Only other thing would be if you have it installed on the ssd (I have) or on the micro sd? Other thing would be oled or lcd?

LCD. Launch window model. No MicroSD card installed. SSD has been in no way modified either.

Edit: Worth noting that reviewing the crash logger, it appears that gamescope is generally what's crashing with Steam Webhelper making a one off appearance for the latest, though that one maybe explained by my Steam Deck deciding being connected to the Internet was no longer cool in the middle of my play session.

all this is the same for me as well, also no palworld. honestly barely used my deck prior to installing P3R

I did play palworld with a few crashes.
I have lcd deck with an upgraded ssd
I’ll try later moving the game to my sd card and running off that

I'm just hoping maybe my general crash issues were resolved by the desktop mode game boot back to game mode + power cycle tip provided earlier in the thread. Seeing in my crash logger that the normal crash reason was not what caused the last crash gives me a bit of hope, especially since the logger did seem to be catching what was crashing and taking the game with it every single time based on the volume of logs.

Immediately crashed trying to go to the shrine after booting the game for the first time tonight. Last non-drastic thing I could think to do was validate files one more time (one file in the Linux Sniper validation step did fail this time) and deleting the game's Proton files in case something was wrong that Steam couldn't detect. It had an extended game boot having to redownload all the Proton relevant files and such, and at the least I didn't crash on trying to enter the shrine for a third time in a row. I'm just seriously out of ideas if this still doesn't stop the crashing.
