Akihiko's starting level and party member EXP
Hey, can someone tell me at what level Akihiko starts from? I like having a team with equal EXP, so don't want to be under/over leveled when I get him. Also, if someone is even further into the game, I'd really love to know if EXP gained from battles is only reserved for the participating SEES members, like in the original, or is it more akin to P5?

Party members don't get exp outside of combat... however, this remake added something to tartaraus, to catch up low level Party members. The game gives you a tutorial about it so don't worry too much about who you use in battle. How it works is that you will find a door to a special room where you can level a character to your level range. Say your character is level 30 and you have a character that is level 20. You can instantly get that character to level 30 by going to that room.
Note: you will have to bring them into battle in order to trigger the instant level up. But once you do they will be your character's level.

Akihiko joined my party at Level 14 with the first time entering Tartarus with him being 6/7 (unsure if it matters or not to his level) if anyone else has any input.

I think he started in my party at about lvl 14 or 15. It was hard for me not to have my hero 4-5 levels above him by the time he joined my party.

Yep, starts at 14. Which made him severely underlevelled for the party (everyone was level 17 already, after getting to the end of the current dungeon). Sad display, really. You expect him to come about and be at least a level higher then the guys, but nope.

Thanks for the quick responses, as I couldn't find the info anywhere online!

Yeah, that's exactly why I unironically stopped myself dead in the tracks after reaching level 13 at floor 28, out of fear of leaving him behind.

Once I get further into the game, would you want me to update the post about the levels? I'll put it in spoilers too so you can choose when to view it when you get closer.

Well, not like you are leaving him behind completely. It's your only new guy for a while, so if you're going into Tartarus for grind (gotta make the money somehow), you'll catch up in one sitting pretty much. To an acceptable level.

Lol, I actually waited for him after the monorail fight because I knew that he would join. Did you guys seriously do the entire second dungeon without him?

As far as i can tell reserve members get no experience.

To be fair, I assumed they are going to level scale him to "your level + 1". They didn't.

So it's like in the original? God that sucks from all the things they could have improved

Gladly! I understand why it would be like in the original, but at the same time I really disliked that if I wanted my party member at similiar levels, I had to not only sink in much more time, but also end up with the MC overleveled.

Jeez, really? I'm gonna cope by asking if you have gotten Mitsuru already

Aside from the Clairvoyant Statue or whatever it's called (the one that has access to *fula and targets weaknesses), it was a breeze. I've started on Normal, remembering how much asskicking P3 used to dish out on occasion, but addition of Baton Pass from P5 trivialised fighting A LOT. And you get a ton of SP items. You can clear a dungeon in two goes easy. Maybe one go if you're good. I'm not. Maybe they should've kept the "getting tired" mechanic to make us pace ourselves better.
