Steamdeck performance is weak
i picked it up on steam because of WeMod and it runs significantly worse than persona 5 royal. you can get 60fps max settings 98% of the time in royal the choke points being in cities with heavy crowds.

In P3 it tanks in weird spots like walking in your bedroom with absolutely nothing going on is in the 40s with 99% GPU usage using the full 1600mhz which is odd because there are way better looking games that run better.

Steam deck got a update on the preview channel to 3.5.14 that is supposed to address the forced ray traced reflections but nothing changed for me so far and i have reflections off. is there any .cfg or .ini tweaks to even this out?

Turn off reflections and it should be working fine.

I've got it running stable at 800p30 (Battery)/800p60 (Charger) by turning off Reflections in-game, but also using CryoByte33's Steam Deck Utilities to increase the VRAM from the stuck 1GB (that Valve set) to 4GB (which SDU will tell you how to enable the function to allow for this).

I found the Fix. its proton issue.

Go into your library search for proton experiment in the search bar on the top left open it and go to the property's like you would any other game and go to the beta settings and click the drop down

Select the most recent version of bleeding edge

then go back to persona 3 select proton experimental for the custom proton in the games properties

boot the game and you will be able to run max setting reflections off and get 60fps 90% of the time or cap to 40/45 with 125% render resolution locked 100% of the time

Yes the game has a shader compilation issue on Steam Deck and bleeding-edge for sure has the fix for it right now. idk if it's been pushed in any other way at the moment.

For anyone with random crashing issues, this won't fix those, but it sure gets the game running smoothly until it does crash lol

Blame Denuvo for the performance losses. 'Cause it's true.

I'm doing Tartarus for the first time on my Steam Deck, with the 4GB UMA VRAM configuration, and it's sitting around 2.6-2.8GB of VRAM usage before I even fight my first Shadow.
I think that shows a lot of the weak performance on the Steam Deck's default 1GB UMA VRAM setting.

need work

It has had some improvements with a new mesa driver, a force command, and valve's hotfix, but it would be good for the devs to work on it

New mesa driver? I saw a post you put in another thread about the RADV_DEBUG=nogg command and use the hotfix instead of experimental so im going to try that now.

Whats the mesa driver is that somthing it downloads itself or do I need to manually go update it?
nfinite.recursion Feb 13, 2024 @ 7:00am
DO NOT manually update the Mesa driver if you don't know what you are doing. Mesa 24.0.0 will eventually be merged into SteamOS when it's considered stable enough for deployment.

But yes, in the meantime switch Proton to the Proton Hotfix for P3R and add the launch option

RADV_DEBUG=nogg %command%

Turn off reflections in config. But you have to do it in the in-game menu because on the title screen it will just switch back on once you load in.
