Menu/UI element running at lower resolution
I think this issue needs some serious attention.

Currently, the menus, UI and many 2D aspect render at a lower resolution. They look very bad running at 1440p/4k. You spend a lot of time looking at these elements and they seriously hurt the quality of the visuals.

PS5 version seems to have all those elements being rendered at the correct resolution.

If you have some suggestions or opinions, I will gladly appreciate them, thanks in advance.

Try using Virtual Super Resolution (In AMD Adrenalin, go to Gaming > Display and enable Virtual Super Resolution there) and set your resolution in-game to 3840x2160, that should improve the scaling. You can probably scale your render scale back to 100% at that point.

I speculated before that this has to do with the UI at 1080p not scaling nicely to non-whole numbers (1.5x for 1440p vs 2.0x at 4K).

I tried it, it didn't work at all. The problem still persist, it's there and it can be noticed quite easily

UI resolution is just hard locked. Hopefully a modder decides to fix it at least.

So, there was a similar issue in Tales of Arise that was fixed by the Arise-SDK mod.

Apparently in that game it was UTextureRenderTarget2D not scaling to your resolution. All the skits would look EXACTLY the same kinda low-res blurry as Personas and such here.

I contacted the author of that mod to see if maybe they could rework Arise-SDK for Persona 3 Reload (they're both UE4) but there's been no reply yet.

That mod used a dll to work its magic, but beyond that, I dunno how it worked or how they fixed it. If anyone knows how to get UTextureRenderTarget2D to scale correctly, that might do the trick.

With the game selling a million in its first week I was hoping the mod scene would have been pretty big for this game and this would have been fixed. Especially considering DQXIS and Arise both literally have the same exact problems. The work seems to be there we just need someone familiar enough to check on it.

i thought i was the only one thinking this.
It drives me insane. What is atlus waiting for to fix this?
sigh

The problem is more weird than menus being hard locked at 1080p. They look more or less fine statically when you don't touch anything. But as soon as you transition to any other screen, they SUDDENLY get very pixelated. If they were just locked, they would've always looked like that, not only during transitions.

This isn't true for me at all. They're always blurry and aliased.

It also might be they forgot to turn AA on in the menu. Like a Dragon infinite wealth kinda have this as well. The model in the menu is low res and you can kinda see jagged edge.

Not really. At any resolution above 1080p it is very clear that the menu assets are being rendered at a lower resolution. Including static 2D assets.

If it was only aliased, this would make sense, but it's also blurry, which shows that it's just low resolution. Again, exact same as in Tales of Arise.

No idea how this is not fixed yet.

Apparently, this was an issue with the PC release of Persona 5 Royal also so waiting for Atlus to fix it is more than likely not going to happen.

Actually i think that they are probably gonna fix it in the first patch of the game.
If you go to their other games, they always get at least 1 patch (usually after a month), its like a pattern...

Hoping they fix it as soon as possible

Was it fixed in Royal? I don’t recall seeing this issue when I played Royal. Or at least it wasn’t nearly as bad. Might boot it up tonight to check.

Can confirm now that Persona 5 Royal on PC in 4K looks fine. The menus are all proper resolution, crisp, sharp and don't have any issues with aliasing or jagged edges.

Personas in menu are also rendered at the correct resolution.

If this was an issue in P5R it has since been fixed.
