Why do people refuse to play the Japanese dub?

Don't wanna sound like a weeb but it just seems more natural to me. Also played persona 5 in Japanese and really enjoyed the voice acting.

Well, there is an example : I don't watch Dragon Ball in Japanese. Why? Because I dislike how Son Goku sounds there! I would rather watch DBZKai or DBS in my mother tongue (French) or get one of the american dubs.

Aye DBZ is one of the few anime i watch in English, because Goku actually sounds like a man in it while in the Japanese version he sounds like a gremlin on helium.

I don't mind how Japanese sounds. I even miss listening to Nintendo Directs in japanese lol. I just can't stand Son Goku's japanese voice

Well I have never actually seen any Dragon Ball, I was agreeing generally as there are a lot of Japanese dubs I don't like.

i think the voice in dub fits better
now thats one of only a few examples i can think of where the dub beats out the sub
for og db the jp va fits but i don't think it carries to later series
the majority of the time the jp va just sounds better
especially in the case of funimation/ cruchy dubs crew
they have a total of 10 va's and they're in basically every anime
it sounds weird to hear natsu from fairy tail in 30 anime with the exact same voice

Last time I check I speak and write English. I dont want to read subtitles and miss whats going on. If I read and spoke Japanese than MAYBE Ill put the ♥♥♥ dub just to test my skills. But in the end My primary language is English and Im going to watch and play things in English. I dont understand how you dont understand that? Ill watch an anime with subs IF and ONLY IF there is not English Dub. But if there is an English dub I dont care what people think I dont care about the ♥♥♥ voice actors Im going to watch in English.

is reading subtitles really that difficult? i mean i get it if you have poor eyesight or a mental disability that keeps you from reading subs, but some of y'all act like it's comparable to running a marathon
it really isn't that hard, though i will say anime dubs are better than they were a decade or so ago
i remember when you would watch an anime and basically every anime mc was voice acted by one of 3 people, the kirito guy, ichigo, or natsu
it actually made some anime hard to watch for me in dub

I was thinking to play in english because I played the original in english, but they change the voice actors, weird because some are still in Reload but with minor characters.

For japanese they keep the original voice actors, and they are very good

IF I am in a different country, I will respect the norms and try to learn the language and speak it. But if I am in my country I expect other people to follow the norms and try to learn and speak the language, Its only fair.

The dubs in persona games have always been top tier, no reason to play in JP

I enjoy actually understanding what a character says. You just play on japanese for the sake of it.

This whole thread is people posting opinions as facts. How can you claim something like that? Since we're doing this I'll drop an opinion as fact as well: Not a single game has good Japanese VA because Japanese sucks. It sounds awful, I can't take them seriously.
