I used to think like this, but then I took a look at my library of 60€ games that I've played once and I'm never going to play again and I changed my mind.
I just don't see a reason wasting 60/70€ on something I will only ever play once, unless it's specifically from a company that I want to support or I collect games into my library.
On the other hand. If I do get an itch to play something I played on game pass 5 years later I'm probably going to find on sale and the overall cost of game pass rental + buying it at a later date is still going to be cheaper than getting it now on steam.
