I agree with you people can pay whatever they want for any product they want - but calling this a triple title is hilariously delusional.
Idk if you're just trolling or you've never actually played the original and haven't even looked past the steam store page, because you couldn't quite possibly be any more wrong.
Not sure there are many defending it.
More that most of us have jobs and make money where it doesn't really matter if it's a game that we really will enjoy. That's the case for me.
When Suikoden I + II comes out - assuming they haven't censored anything (and I don't recall much that would be) - I'd pay full price for that too. Because these are the kinds of games I enjoy and I feel are worth it. Not glorified movies as has been coming out recently.
FFVII Rebirth - I refuse to pay full price for, because it's a glorified movie now. I'll buy it, but not at full price. I learned my lesson from Final Fantasy XV.
I'll quote the following from another post:
"Here are all the things I have seen, noticed, and researched that have changed since the original P3. I’m pretty sure I miss some things, but here is what I could write as of right now.
Aesthetic Changes:
The game's aesthetics have been overhauled, including character designs and sprites, the GUI, the map models, and their contents in a new engine. Yes same story but they pretty much did everything else from scratch since they couldn't use any resources from the old game.
The game includes newly arranged music and original compositions, with Atsushi Kitajoh as main composer.
• Rapper Lotus Juice returned as a male vocalist, and Azumi Takahashi was introduced as a new female vocalist. New music and old music still cost money no matter what they did. Atlus would still have to pay the singers money for it.
• Similarly, to Persona 5 Royal, a new player advantage battle theme "It's Going Down Now" was added. A rearranged version of the original theme, "Mass Destruction," is used for regular battles.
The game features new animated cutscenes, but some original scenes have been remade in 3D.
As the interviews stated, this will be the most voice Persona game there is. Which means they have to pay voice actors money and in Japan royalties for their voice work.
The Japanese voices were recorded from scratch.
• Koromaru is voiced by Shinya Takahashi, reprising from Persona 3 The Movie where he was uncredited.
The English version features a mostly entirely new voice cast:
• The protagonist and Pharos are now voiced by Aleks Le.
• Yukari Takeba is now voiced by Heather Gonzalez.
• Junpei Iori is now voiced by Zeno Robinson.
• Mitsuru Kirijo is now voiced by Allegra Clark.
• Akihiko Sanada is now voiced by Alejandro Saab.
• F u u ka Yamagishi is now voiced by Suzie Yeung.
• Aigis is now voiced by Dawn M. Bennett.
• Ken Amada is now voiced by Justine Lee.
• Shinjiro Aragaki is now voiced by Justice Slocum.
• Shuji Ikutsuki is now voiced by Jake Green.
• Takaya Sakaki is now voiced by Daman Mills.
• Jin Shirato is now voiced by Chris Hackney.
• Chidori Yoshino is now voiced by Merit Leighton.
Certain characters' voice actors have been preserved:
• Tara Platt reprises her role as Elizabeth.
The English version preserves the original game's naming conventions: for example, the name of the skill Bash is kept as is instead of being changed to "Lunge," and the "Out" in "All-Out Attack is written in uppercase in spite of following a hyphen.
All Social Link events are fully voiced.
The game has been localized in 13 languages, only in subtitle form. New languages include Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian and Turkish.
The frame rate has been improved from the original's 30FPS to a stable 60FPS, and the resolution has been increased to support 4K.
SEES Attire P3RE:
All members of S.E.E.S can wear customized equipment, available sometime in the game.
The new armband designs are numbered:
Mitsuru's number is 0.
Akihiko's number is 1.
Shinjiro's number is 2.
The protagonist's number is 3, based on the game.
Yukari's number is 4.
Junpei's number is 5.
F u u ka's number is 6.
Aigis's number is 7.
Koromaru's number is 8.
Ken's number is 9.
Combat aesthetics have been improved:
Cut-ins are animated and dynamic.
The protagonist and the party have different victory poses, similarly to Persona 5.
Every party member has their own Finishing Touch by ending a battle via All-out Attack, similarly to the Persona 5 franchise.
Story and Gameplay Changes:
New side stories in the form of "Link Episodes" have been added for certain characters, separate from the Social Link mechanic.
• This not only includes members of SEES, but also members of Strega.
• Watching specific Link Episodes will reward with stat boosts and unlock special fusion recipes.
* How indepth the story link episodes will be is not known at this time other then the ones shown in the trailers.
* Any available Social Links will now message the protagonist an invitation to hang out, rather than approaching them during lunchtime.
New activities have been added:
* The protagonist can use a computer to take a quiz series consisting of two options.
The protagonist can perform certain activities at the dormitory together with his friends. They can cook, read and watch DVDs. Partaking will reward the protagonist with Social Stat boosts depending on the activity.[14]
* The protagonist can spend time gardening with allies, unlocking combat-based characteristics that comprise of passive and unique abilities.[14]
Class questions have been changed.
Social Links can no longer be Broken, and criteria for Reversing them have mellowed.
Tartarus has a new map and significantly more details and parts.
• Tartarus has breakable objects.
• Certain Treasure Chests in Tartarus are locked. They require a key to be unlocked.
The protagonist can dash while exploring dungeons.
An auto-recovery feature is included.
The condition system where party members can become tired over time has been removed.
Combat details have been tweaked:
• Some skills' properties have been changed.
• The learn pools of party members have been fleshed out and rebalanced.
• Damage-dealing Light and Dark skills, such as Kouha and Eiha, are introduced in the game.
• A new combat mechanic called "Shift," similar to Baton Passes of Persona 5, has been introduced.
• A new system called Theurgia, has been introduced, where combatants can perform special attacks, requiring a gauge that can be filled depending on the party member's personality.
• For the protagonist, this mechanic is a substitute for their ability to perform Fusion Spells.
Shuffle Time functions similarly to Persona 4 Golden, where cards are manually selected.
Tartarus has a new map and significantly more details and parts.
* Tartarus has character events that occur on regular intervals.[2]
* Tartarus has breakable objects.[2]
* Certain Treasure Chests in Tartarus are locked.[16] They require "Twilight Shards" to be unlocked.[17]
* In addition to regular rare Shadows, huge rare Shadows may be found.[18]
* The Entrance Clock, which fully recovers the party's HP and SP, requires 7 Twilight Fragments to use.
- Monad doors and hallways that have difficult bosses for good rewards
- Also more ways to use your party to explore tartarus
- They gave f u u ka new abilities that you can use in tartarus
- Pretty sure they added more teleportation devices too
- Ryoji has link episodes too
- Dorm activities
- no longer restricted to paulownia mall during evening. There are more activities to do at night time now.
There are still a lot of things we do not know since the game is not out. Hope this helps anyone wondering whats new in the remake.
Hopes this answers why it might cost the $70 price tag. Yeah the story is the same for all we know but they still had to do everything mostly from scratch. The same thing that happen to Dead Space 3 remake. No one complain about that game having a $60 price tag for a story that was released in 2008. How about Resident Evil 4 remake that cost $60 plus extra for Adda's story. No one complained about that price tag when it was released. Both games have deluxe editions too for $70 on release date too.
At the end of the day its up to each individual to decide what they want to do with their money and what they will not do with it. I just find it pointless to complain on steam forums saying they cannot see why it cost so much when a little bit of research would tell them exactly why it does."
Come on people, it's more expensive to make a game nowadays than it was 18 years ago
intergrade was pretty good if you separate it from the original, much better than launch ff15
even ff16 was really good
i'd agree for licenced anime games, those tend to be garbage
but games that actually provide value like persona, fromsofts games, some square enix games(mostly dragons quest, and most of the ff games), team ninja, falcom, and other devs like that are all worth what they charge
big boss what are you doing here
did you finally escape konami
if your broke boy just say so !
