1. Do you have enough spare time in your life to beat a 80h+ game in one month or maybe two? => Gamepass

2. Do you want to experience everything the game has to offer (which may include multiple playthroughs) and taking your time to enjoy every aspect of it without rushing it due to your subscription ending? => Buy the game

3. Are you the type of person that beats a game and never replays it? => Gamepass

4. Are you the type of person that does another run every now and then or plans to play it again in the future? => Buy the game

I already got the Premium Deluxe. (Gamepass is just the standard edition, so lacking in the bonus content)

I don't like having invisible timers hanging over my head until a game I'm in the middle of can be yanked away (Two Persona Games literally left Gamepass this month)

I guess most importantly for me though is that I want a hassle-free, natively intuitive SteamDeck-to-Desktop experience without needing to jump through hoops or wondering if cloud-saving is going to sync properly with a Macgyvered Gamepass version.

I was contemplating about the bonus content too but then iremembered how i hate it in P5R i get access to OP persona right from the start. I decided to get the standard instead.

Game Pass isn't free. Lol.

Easy buy. Don't have to worry about it going out of rotation LIKE P5R.

I only get the time to fully enjoy 2 or maybe 3 games a year so I just buy it. I can't justify a subscription service for how much time I have to game. Game Pass will probably drop the game after a year so I'd rather just have it forever in my library.

I think AngryChair kinda nailed it.

Some people still act like if you play on GamePass then you obliged by law to never buy Steam version......

Play first time on GP and buy later on sale.

On Steam of course so I can have all my SMT games in one place, play it on Steam Deck, and so that the game is mine to revisit whenever I like. No time limits or pressure to get through the game before it goes away.

Another option is even "cheaper."

My library ends up getting ALMOST all major PS5 games...

And some have ordered the console 179$ CE one which you KNOW will become sought after.

I like modding my games soooo....

I went to a "other" site and I got it for 62 bucks.

I bought it, these are long games and I replay them a lot. Gamepass is for short games I'll only play once.
