Thinking about refund
I've heard that Katrina Leonoudakis is translator for this game. Is that true? :feeling:

I feel like Katrina Leonoudakis and Jamie Marchi are being a little conflated in this thread. Marchi is a voice actress and not a localizer. Technically, anyone involved in the process of making the in-English version of a Japanese product would be "involved in the localization," but that's not what people think when they hear "localizer." In theory, this should be a thread on Katrina Leonoudakis I feel, but the majority of the controversy about poor localization relates to Marchi, it seems.

Katrina Leonoudakis is a translator and as far as I can tell, whether it's a good or a bad thing, does seem qualified and has many years of experience doing translation.

Actually Jamie says that she was involved in the localization of that Dragon Maid Anime where she added the Patriarchy to the translation.

Just having Katrina on a project compromises it, and of course P3R actually needs a new localization.

There shouldn't be no tolerance for her involvement.
Where's the evidence of this about P3R needing a new localization? I would love to know.

Are you for real?

You realize P3R is a remake, not a remaster, right?

Yeah i do realize that it is a remake however still don't see anything wrong from what I have seen of the translation/localization. The only complaint that I saw was someone complaining about too much cursing. However a few trailers don't tell you what the entire game entails. The localization could suck but I do not know that without playing the game.

But again, she's able to say that because technically anyone involved in creating the English version of the show, all voice actors, native-language script editors, sound engineers, etc., are "involved in the localization." It might be irresponsible of her to claim that because people will assume she was involved in the translation portion of the localization, but that's not what she likely means.

For people to then refer to her as a localizer, either by fans or haters, is inaccurate. Especially for the people who want her cancelled, it's kind of giving her an undeserved honorary title.

She mistranslates lines on purpose and puts in political messages and jokes. For example look at this

The funimation dub is what she wrote. This is just one example of what she does, and people don't want her doing this game's translation.

Luckily Sega seems to have her on a tight lease and we haven't noticed anything she's done to persona yet, but people are worried she will work something like above into persona 3 reload

What the heck, what need to be in the head of person who translated dub. Looks like some mental issue. I mean I could go with crap or cringe subs, that are not official and sometimes made for fun, but if what was posted on the link is true, then it's freaking stupid how company even approved this translation

Hence why she is hated. You can find many translators like her though, and they do defend themselves with broken logic on twitter.

Hence why the company that was allowed to release it lost the rights to the media.

I'm not sure why their community is silent then. I mean, most likely people like this translator bring more hate than good. If there are real activists, which try to solve real problems, they could fall to prejudice because of those stupid people, who use that idiotic approach.

There was a localiser who said something along the lines of "The true joy of localisation is seeing what you get away with", This has been going on for a while now.

Again, you're confusing Jamie Marchi, who did the VO for Dragon Maid and has been credited with that line, with Katrina Leonoudakis, who's done the Persona localizations. As far as I am aware, Marchi hasn't worked on a Persona game and Leonoudakis didn't work on Dragon Maid.

Still shows the same base problem with some localisers. And Katrina has been credited with many instances of doing similar things. She also blocks anyone who disagrees with her or calls her out on her behaviour.

That's not really the point. Someone came in and asked what the problem with Leonoudakis is and pinning the Dragon Maid example on her is just plain misinformation. I feel like a better rectification to that would be to instead of claiming that localization is in general an issue, we should provide the person who asked a more relevant example.

Having been following this thread, we've discussed Seven Seas, which Leonoudakis didn't work on, Dragon Maid which she didn't work on, and various other incidences not involving her, but aside from having political views which many don't like, I would also, personally, really like to see more evidence of Leonoudakis, personally, doing a bad job. I don't think the fact that other localizers have stepped over the line is necessarily an indictment against Leonoudakis herself.
